Nic snd Shelly have revived the pub.
It’s back to the great location it was previously under their management.
Service is friendly and the food is upto Shelley’s high standards

6 of us had dinner last night and we all enjoyed the evening very much

Welcome back

The pub has been refurbished since our last visit and it is gorgeous! The landlady & her sausage dog "Bendy" were so friendly and the food was incredible, & obviously homemade. We were there for lunch on a Thursday.

My husband had chicken & leek pie with amazing, crispy, fluffy inside chips & veg. He said it was one of the best pies he had had, the pastry certainly looked lovely. I went for sausage & mash which came with onion gravy as good as my gran used to make.

I couldn't resist dessert and the really moist, light chocolate cake with chocolate sauce & chocolate ice cream was fabulous.

We will definitely be going back & I actually booked a table for dinner with a friend for a couple of weeks time & can't wait. Highly recommend.

We visited with a group of 5 to a very 'luke warm' welcome, which didn't seem to get much better.

The food was fantastic but the service was extremely slow. It was one guy (whom I presume was the landlord), to serve only a handfull of customers - but acting like the place was packed.

We gave up on ordering deserts because the landlord clearly didn't want to serve them to us. He must have known we wanted them because one of our group went to get the large desserts board and brought it back to our table. We were then, just basically, completely ignored once we'd had our main course. Very odd.

The food would take me back - but I wouldn't rush due to the very oddish behaviour of the landlord.

Lovely old pub but very mediocre food. My veggie lasagne was exactly as if It had bought in Sainsburys as a ‘Meal for One’ not bad but not restaurant quality and very poor value for money . The others had fish and chips and a great deal
Of batter on little fish. The deserts definitely appeared bought in too .. nothing delicious or home made and just dull and pretty tasteless. Very unsatisfying . This is my first review of the Dovecote through I’ve been here a few times. Won’t bother again. Can’t really recommend i

Some friends and I visited the Dovecote today for lunch. The barmaid/waitress was excellent. The food lovely but what completely ruined our Christmas meet up was the landlord let the wood burner go out and it was completely freezing, this is the 2nd year he has done this and it was very obvious that it was on purpose as he was to mean to heat that end of the pub once the lunch crowd is over. Landlord a bit strange was very creepy checking out our friend the same as last year. And insisted on making comments and finishing it with dingdong !!!

A small pub on a country lane and quite off the beaten track. But the excellent food - particularly at lunchtimes - makes it well worth the effort of finding it! A wide-ranging menu, plus a dozen or so 'specials' mean that you should be able to find something to tempt you.

My wife and I have been here several times over the years - we live fairly locally - and neither of us have ever had sufficient room for dessert!

This pub has remarkably reopened under the last but one landlord. The food is excellent, the service good and the atmosphere friendly.

Hopefully this is an example of a pub coming back from the brink!

Closed, since being flooded, possibly never to open again as a unique Kentish country pub. The area is fairly isolated and the land it is located on would make an investor a lot of money as housing. This is the very sad reality we face in the countryside today.

Previously a couple of years ago, I posted an adverse review concerning The Dovecote and we had not returned until this evening..
What a difference we found.
We were greeted with a very warm and friendly welcome.
We ordered our drinks at the bar and were then very quickly taken to our very comfortable table where the menus were produced
Unfortunately, my wife has a dietary problem and can only eat limited foods
She asked if she could have ham and chips and although they don't usually serve this in the evening, the chef kindly obliged and supplied the ham and chips which my wife said she enjoyed very much.
I had the steak and ale pudding which was delicious
We have no hesitation in recommending the Dovecote and we look forward to seeing you again shortly
Thank you for a lovely evening
