Be sure to get a guided tour from a resident monk so you understand the history of the abbey and the restoration it is undergoing. Wall painting dating back to the 1300s.

St-Wandrille is a very peaceful and spiritual place - a working Benedictine Abbey in the throes of significant restoration. It is only possible to visit some of the property, but the old abbey (where restoration of just one arch window takes one year) is fabulous. Cobbles, etc
