This Nagara style Hindu temple was built in 1204 A.D. by two local merchants named Ahuka and Manyuka. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva as Vaidyanath. Numerous idols are carved on the walls of the temple.

An excellent Shiva temple. The entire temple complex is kept very clean and lush green gardens.

We were at temple around the time Aarati was to be done. The priests advised us to witness the aarati and have darshan.

After the aarati and puja, the priests did not demand any offerings.

The temple is serene, full of energy. Temples architecture is very beautiful.
If visiting Palampur area, must visit

The Sacred site is very well maintained and darshan timmings need to be followed. We reached the temple complex at 7.40pm and the temple doors were closed for the day. We offered our prayers to Lord Baijnath Shivling form outside.

Planning to visit this holy place again

Local/Volvo buses operate from ISBT Kashmere Gate till 7.30 - 8pm. Travel time is about 10-11 hrs.

A place of improtance in Hindu religion.

Wish you all a divine darshan

A must visit 13th Century Ancient Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. My kids were amazed on learning the fact that this construction was carried out so far back in time & still stands strong. These temples in such far flung areas reinstate our pride in our rich culture & history.

This place is worth visiting when coming to palampur. It is a really old shiv temple located on a hill top. The temple is peaceful and has great views of snow clad peaks. They have a designated parking area but it is a bit small.. that's the only reason for the 4 stars.

Wonderful experience. Such a beautiful 5000 years old ancient Shiva temple . But disappointed that there was no arrangement of shoe racks. The carvings done were beautiful. A little crowded on Mondays. Avoid going in the afternoon as sun shines directly above it n can be very hot.

Baijnathji Shiv temple is situated at Baijnath, a small town in Kangra district Himachal Pradesh, India. It is about 60 kms from Kangra city on National Highway 20. Actually there are twin temples viz Baijnathji and 200 meters away Sidhanathji. It is said that both of these were built by Viswakarama (Hindus God of Archtecture) in a single night. It is also said that darsan of both temples is necessary for darsan labh.
The temples are built with dark nut color stones. Baijnathji temple is huge and in good condition. The walls are full with engraved God and Gddess (you can watch my vedio on Youtube my channel name is drrpsharma50). Sidthnathji temple is though in bad state but in this temple you can perform pooja by him self as there is no pujjari. I have always find here a bucate filled with water for oftering to lord Shiv. The ling and Naagraj are also very impressiv.
According to Historians these temples were built very famous brahmin king Sansaar Chandra, the rular of Nagarkot Kila (Kangra, which is the only fort of India which has not been won by any one in battle field and also having all documentory evidences of its rulers (it is available in the personal library of Dr. Karn Singh M.P. the son of Maharaaja Kashmir. According to some (Rahul Sankratayan) it was built by a rich merchant who use to do bussiness with Middle east countries. Baijnathji located at a centre point on the old bussiness route to middle east.
There is also a controversi regarding which temple is actually a Shiv Jyotirling (as there are other Baijath temples such as in Bihar as well as in Uttrakhand) The archeological evidence says that this Baijnathji temple is real one. Beside this it is also falls in the route from Kailash to Lanka (the background story is that Ravan was devottee of lord Shiv. One day he decide to take Lord Shiv in Lanka (Cylone) so as to save time. So he prayed Shivji to be in Lanka. Shivji told you take me there but do not put me on earth in the way. While Ravan taking Shivji to Lanka Ravan feel very preesure of uriene and at that moment Ganpati appeared there. So for releasing pressure, Ravan handed over Shivji to him and Ganpati put Shivji on the earth. And thus become a jyortingling here. I would like to submit very honestly that at first the Himachal welly is full of natural beauty. I have never asked wordly things at any temple as God has already given me more then my requirements, I want peace and happyness, which I got from here also. My life is very calm and smooth due to blessing of Shivji. Har Har Mahadev. drps.

Lord Shiva temple in Himachal is situated on Pathankot-Manali national highway no. 20 and one of the best place to relax for few hours and take blessings of Lord Shiva.
It is a beautiful temple around 50KM away from Dharamshala and well connected by road.
Gaggal Airport is around 50km nearby Dharamshala and well connected by kingfisher Airline flights from Delhi-Pathankot-Dharamshala having daily flights.
