Month of visit - December 2019
Open hours - 9am to 4pm
Koodlu theertha falls is located near Hebri in Udupi district. The road leading upto the entry of the falls once you turn from the Hebri-Someshwara road is a bit confusing. Most of the path once you turn from the Hebri-Someshwara road is mostly unsurfaced & has very few sign boards.
The check post at the entry to the falls is manned by the forest department & the entry is allowed only till 4pm. The path leading to the waterfalls is well defined & has a few concrete steps on the way. It is mostly an uphill trek on the way to the falls & it takes about half an hour at normal pace. The falls itself is pristine with clear water & an awesome scenery around. Be prepared for a few leeches though!!!
It is a great place to visit for a weekend getaway.

As I was on wild trek for a week in Kudremukh, someshwara region, so I covered Hibri to Koodlu Theerath fall distance by walk , I was excited to see this as I got info about this from net during my trek plan. 16 Km one side journey (Total around 32 KM) , It was worth to sweat in that humid area with heavy sac on back. nice wild experience on the way with natural scenery, rural school, traditional houses, farms. but the real satisfaction when you see the fall... i can just say... It's god gifted.. One should experience once in a life.

We visited this falls in Jan 2019 just after the rain. The entry to falls open at 9 am. 50 rs per adult. 300 rs for camera with lens. From the entry point the fall is around 1.2 kms. It takes around 30 mins for the trek. It would be tricky during rains as leeches are expected. though the water incoming is reduced still the fall looked mejastic, since we went on weekday early morning we had the entire fall for us for around couple of hours. The rocks are slippery. exercise caution.

there are lot of butterfly activity there. As my friend taken pictures of several butterflies, I can see we were able to see Tamil lace swing, Malabar tree nymph (flies slowly as it is venomous, no birds dare touch it) etc here.

I was there in Udipi as my friend was working there. Udipi is such an amazing place, it has many weekend gateways around it.
I have traveled to Koodlu Theertha early morning of new years day. the journey from Udupi would take a couple of hours to reach the place, from there we have walked till the falls. it was around 30 min. I am so glad, as we are the first to reach there on that day and nobody was around.
The only thing that I know is how scary it can be to swim "under a waterfall" of high n deep which couldn't be captured in one frame. It's a calm, lonely waterfall and its an eye feast. Freezing cold as I stepped in!!
The point where I realized - facing my fears and moving is what makes me what I am today ... When we realize it ..You know about yourself ...Glad to be at this place

An amazing waterfalls in a very remote area of hebri.. about 20km from Hebri..
Roads to koodlu sucks..I hope govt takes special initiative
Spend 1-2 hrs there.. never try rock climbing... Carry food items and anti leach aids during rains..

Its nearly a heavenly spot for the teenagers. One must trek before you reach the spot. Once you reach, the whole tiredness will be gone.

Situated in the interiors of Hebri . 14km from the city. One can take cabs or buses from this city. Road to the falls is pathetic. Bigger cars or vans can easily go. Not suitable for 2 Wheeler. Unless u r a pro.
After reaching the entrance. One should take the tickets and trek 2.5 -3 kms inside the jungle.
The way isn't straight and is not easy. Snakes, leeches may be present. Be careful.
Lot of ups and downs are there.

The falls is just amazing. Not so deep also.
Be careful about the slippery rocks.
Really good. Chilling Water is just lovely.

One can easily stand directly under the falls.

Good stamina and interest should be there.

Go for it. In d end, it's worth it.

Excellent place to visit. Need to walk few kilometers on a well-constructed path. However, the road that leads to the entrance is pathetic. You must have the good endurance to reach this place. Once you reach, it is a pure delight.

Falls is inside the forest but the path is well built with cement steps. Falls entry is temporarily closed during monsoon because of slippery way and leeches. More than 50 leeches bitten me. However, the view of the falls worth it. I haven't seen anything like that in my life. One of the hidden places in Karnataka. Not able to capture the beauty as our camera and mobiles are not waterproof but We felt good about not capturing the pics as some places are worth to visit not to see.

This depends on rainy season. Else you will not even find a drop of water. In June, when I went, it was a very thin water fall.
