The Rocha dos Bordões is an impressive, vertically striated rock formation in a hilltop. Stop at the Rocha dos Bordões Miradouro (viewpoint) for another spectacular view of the island.

This geological feature on Flores is quite impressive. It must be viewed from one of the miradouros along the highway and preferably on a clear day.

There is a good miradouro where you can see it. The best time to see it is very late in the day. About 19:00 so the sun shines on the rocks.

The columnar basalt rock formation is fascinating and the surrounding area is spectacular and unique. It`s worth stopping in several miradouro`s that view this rock formation as well as the area around it.
