Although I don't play the drums, I really enjoyed this exhibition as the collector is a nice person who is willing to share his stories about his beloved instruments. He can tell you many anecdotes about them in an interesting way. This drum collection is really rare in Europe, it's one of a kind. You can feel in the exhibit room that the place has its soul, just like the instruments. Oh, and we really loved listening to Mr Kármán playing his drums!

This the Mecca of drummers, being the only drum museum in Europe. It was established in 1992 and the pernament exhibition opened in 2000 at Cegléd's main square.
It was my second time visiting this museum, the first time being about eight years ago. On both occassions the collector, Mr. Sándor Kármán guided me through the specialty exhibits and gave some introduction to the important role the drummers play in a band. Being a drummer himself, he was happy to share some of his stories.
There are dozens of specialties in the exhibit, including the Peter Erskine Lifetime Achievement Exhibit as well as tributes to famous Hungarian drummers and drum manufacturers.
It is important that you contact Mr. Kármán in advance on the phone number provided on the museum's website as the museum only opens for appointments. (Nevertheless I recall my first visit when I didn't make an appointment, he was kind and flexible being there within 40-45 minutes.
The museum is located at ca. 15 minutes walking distance from the city's railway and bus stations, though some regional buses may stop at the main square.
