We did a short walk up the hill to a waterfall, quite a trek in places but very nice. All up I think it was about an hour and a half. R40 per person gets you access for the day. In$ terms this is really...More

What a beautiful little gem in the middle of the suburbs. It's a great place to walk around and breathe in the scents of nature, and see the wonderful little shady nooks underneath the canopy of trees. Lovely to walk, excellent to sit and picnic....More

It is in Kloof, not Pinetown.
Very atmospheric jungle type experience. It used to be inhabited by leopards whose natural prey was the monkeys that frequent the gorge. Monkeys still abound but beware of nakes.

In the order of R12 or R15 per person, which gets your details noted in a register so they know who is in the reserve and which route they're doing. Should you not report back before closing time, they will come look for you, in case something happened to you. There are several routes to choose from; various lengths. Wardens patrol the routes as well. No dangerous animals in the reserve, but if you look for scorpions and the like under stones, you may find some (my two sons found this the interesting part of the hike). Highly recommended. Visiting the waterfall is a must. On certain Sundays they do a guided walk.
