Nobody would imagine there’s such an hidden treasure in a small, ordinary town!
A huge castle, even though only the ground floor can be visited. We had an excellent guide but 50 minutes is a little time to be able to fully enjoy and appreciate all those pieces of art!
The visit of gardens and castle costs only 11€ which is an absolutely reasonable price even though the gardens have very little to offer (maybe even due to the season).
We would love to return especially once more areas will be opened to the public.

My wife, daughter and I visited this castello on holiday in july 2019. Although I always try to speak a little bit the language of the country I visit, I don't always understand what they respond in their language. So I ask polite in Italian iff they can answer in English. I was very surprised that the person at the desk didn't speak any other language than Italian (and I know that there where also visitors from Switserland and France that day). The woman behind the desk wasn't friendly at all; that was no warm welcome. We had a guided tour through the castello, but the guide also spoke only Italian. Also she could act more friendly towards visitors from outside Italy. We were lucky that we could read the story in English in every room; unlucky where the French (who only could speak and read French...). The castello is very beautiful to visit. We would only suggest that they ask one price for visiting the castello and the kitchen in the basement. Afterwards we visited the gardens. Although we only had to pay 3 euro's for visiting the garden, we couldn't imagine that they asked an entrancefee for this poorly maintained garden! It could be so beautiful when they maintained this! There is much to be gained here.

Not too big castle, possible to visit with the guide - only in Italian. Inside there are furnished rooms, very nice. Visit lasts around an hour.

The tour is limited in English, but still worthwhile. A lot of history and nicely restored. The grounds are interesting too.

Among the countless country mansions the royal House of Savoy, this admirable 17th c. mansion stands out with rich portrait galleries, carefully preserved living quarters, amazingly large underground kitchens and particularly magnificent gardens. Its history is quite unique, in that it was a Ducal palace before becoming a royal residence; then downgraded again at the death of king Charles Felix, and never been used again as a summer retreat of the royal family.

🇮🇹Il Castello di Agliè sarà ricordato da alcuni come la scenografia della serie televisiva “Elisa di Rivombrosa”, ma è molto di più di questo… una gemma inaspettata nel cuore del Canavese
🇬🇧The Castle of Agliè will be remembered by some as the setting for the television series “Elisa di Rivombrosa”, but it is much more than this… an unexpected gem in the heart of the Canavese area

🇬🇧The visit allows you to visit about 20 environments and although not guided, but simply accompanied by the guardians of the castle personally we were lucky enough to do it with a lady who loved the castle and its history so much that the one who gave us was a true guided tour full of history and curiosity.

Revisiting Agliè after six years I was pleasantly surprised. The tour guide was very good and it
was possible to visit many more rooms as much restoration has gone on in the meantime.
The paintings and furniture and decorations are magnificent, and the views out onto the gardens and parkland too.
This time the guide was informed about the history of the long gallery of portraits, visited at the end of the tour, Previously there had been no information about them!
It is also worth stepping outside and down into the gardens to view the building from the ground, the vista that was so often the backdrop for the TV series "Elisa di Rivombrosa".
