So lovely. Just a wonderful place to walk and to be. I imagine it would be a good place for families to play and picnic.

A steep little path to the side of the Abbazia di San Liberatore takes you down to the tumbling waters of the Alento river. You can follow the river all the way to its source, take the long climb up to the Torre Polegra, or just simply laze and picnic in the of the trees and play amongst the waterfalls and plunge pools. The water, coming directly from the mountains, is always crystal clear and so cold it'll take your breathe away. That, combined with the green dappled canopy of trees, makes the Alento the perfect escape from the endless summer days.
