In the quiet of the valley flows the stream Viganella that marks the border between Gemonio and Cocquio Trevisago. Here stands the Innocente Salvini family-run museum, directed by the painter's great-grandson. The director, for years, is dedicated to the custody and promotion of this reality. The museum collects an extensive group of paintings by the artist. Very beautiful paintings of the twenties and thirties: "The mother in the lookout" (now become a symbol of his painting), "Brother Joseph with pigs" and many other works. Significant dimensions of the paintings but above all the very strong colorism that goes from very bright yellows, reds, greens and blues. This is why his painting is said to be inspired by German expressionism. Being a mill-house, you can also admire the impressive blade of the mill still working. worth a visit with children.

Quaint museum in the home of Innocent Salvini.

Fantastic, small art museum in the original home of the artist, Innocente Salvini in the small town of Cocquio Trevisago (outside of Varese), Northern Itlay. The setting itself is spectacular -- a quaint hamlet with water wheels and running stream on the property. Open on Sat. and Sun. only 3:30-5:30 and is manned by family members of Salvini. Some frescos on outside of building (Salvini's family home) and several indoor exhibit rooms with lovely paintings reminiscent of Van Gogh. Admission Free. A fantastic exhibit!
