Service poor as they kept getting our order wrong. Food however was very nice and the toilets were very clean. The waiters were friendly but didn't seem to listen carefully to our order

I was really surprised to find out that also in this postsoviet country you can find such a great skiing place. Wow ! In the height 2260m, you can really feel the fresh mountain air there:-) and enjoey nice and cozy wooden restaurant Chalet there. Great tea!

The hotel is nestled in a quietest, most loveliest spot on the hills and the view from the rooms is simply, breathtaking. The Check In was remarkable smooth and the staff at the reception was amazingly cooperative. The rooms had an amazing wooden paneling and although, they lacked all the luxury one expects coming from hotels in Dubai, this was... More

We were told we could hike and hire MTBs... but this place is like a ghost town off season. Even the cable car between Medeu and Shymbulak wasn't running. The taxi (about $10 each way) isn't half as exciting! Really disappointing- a missed opportunity. You can easily catch the bus from the ice rink to Almaty for almost nothing.

Shymbulak is a small but well equipped ski resort 1hr outside of Almaty main town. The ski school is very accommodating but the ski / locker / clothing rental and ski pass set up can be a little confusing but is VERY reasonable for prices. The resort has great bars and restaurants and there are approx a dozen good runs... More

You can hire a taxi for a cheap price to visit this resort. The drive to the resort has beautiful views and you pass by Medeu skating resort. With the exchange rate of Tenge, the resort is a big bargain. The service is good and on a Sunday it did not seem over-crowded like other resorts normally are. Be prepared... More
