Kind of a hot dry place to visit during the dry season, but still lots of bird life, the arbor milenario, huaca El Oro. The Bosque de Pomac is unique in showing what the coastal plain looked like. The 6000 hectare forest is split by the rio de leche, as Pizarro called it. The tip about bringing binocs is a great one, I saw at least a dozen new bird species and several more I had only seen once or twice.

Nice to combine architectural history with a nature reserve. Go on a private tour or take a driver and guide. We were the only tourists at Batan Grande - there is only one Huaca open to the public, but the guide explained the construction methodology and layout. It can get dusty and hot with biting wasps that look like flies. Fine birdwatching and you can go on walking trails. I heard that riding is also an option through the reserve. It's a nice outing but not as impressive archaeologically as Tucume for example
