this cave was not in our itinerary but since it's proximal to daranak falls, we took a quick turn to visit before we headed to pililia.
it was a welcome surprise! calinawan cave is something to marvel at. it used to be a hush-hush location for old movies and TV shows that needed an underground setting. our tour guide took very good fotos of us while explaining each facet of the rock formations inside as well as the history of the place. our helmets served their purpose.
it was humid inside but the inconvenience was worth it. for 30 minutes, we explored up to the 2nd out of the 5 sections of the cavern. we would have gone deeper but due to time constraints, we opted to head to the exit.
nice place. very good experience.

Bayan ng Tanay, Rizal Lalawigan, Philippines is home to Calinawan Cave. The location is fascinating since the cave's inside displays a variety of rock forms. The cave is totally dry and devoid of moisture. We have just looked at the first five of the seven strata, according to the tour guide. The legend surrounding Calinawan Cave is that it was the site of a movie shot by the legendary Jackie Chan. The cave is often used as a filming site for national and international projects. Additionally, local teleseryes, like the first mermaid in Dyesebel, are filmed in this cave. In the cave, I managed to photograph Dyesel's exact spot. Sad to say, some people have ruined several sections of the cave by picking at the stones and minerals.

This cave has a number of levels (per our tour guide). Initially, you can only explore the easy parts. After finishing it, you could opt to go deeper (with additional fee). I can only say that this cave is "sayang". It could have been beautiful but due to some human activities, most of the stalactites and stalagmites are dead.
This is situated near Daranak Falls. The best way to go here is by hiring a tricycle. The fee is cheap and the tour guide (i forgot her name) is very nice and funny. Please, if you plan to visit this cave do not touch the still alive stalactites and stalagmites. Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but pictures. Thank you.

We didn't know about the cave beforehand. We just saw a sign while on the way to Danarak and decided to ask around. A word of advice for anyone wanting to bring a car - while the road to Danarak was still fine, to Calinawan a 4x4 would definitely be needed.
The fee as of 08/17 was 40php per person plus 200php for a guide for the group.
The trek inside was definitely doable, and the amount of time it takes depends on up to which layers of the cave your group would like to do. We only did the first two, as we not only had limited time but also, looking at the entrance to the third it seemed a bit too much for our group hehe.
The cave floor is slippery so keep that in mind when choosing footwear.

The tour is very cheap and affordable.. The adventure of being in the cave is very extreme and its very much recommended for thrill and fun seekers.
Our tour guide (I forgot the name) is the granddaughter of Filipino "Robin Hood" Macario Sakay. Inside the cave she narrates the history and the events (even the shows and movies being captured there).. It is just my second time inside a cave and all I can say that this one is awesome..

After visiting Daranak and Batlag Falls, we decided to visit this place. Some of my friends are hesitant to enter the cave but eventually we convinced them...the guide assigned to us is very friendly. A fee is collected prior entering the cave for the payment of the guide and the headgear for protection. The tour is about 30mins, we took the easier path though because we are not prepared to crawl over the narrow entrance. Tip...Watch your head and be attentive!

the tourist guides are very knowledgeable. the lead is so funny and at the same time, mindful of the safety of the tourists. thumbs up!
the entrance fee of 40p only includes layers 1-2 but for an extra voluntary fee, you can tour layers 3-4-5 which is, to me, the height of the tour!

We had a mild spelunking experience which lasted for less than an hour. There was some crawling in the mud in the third layer but it was still manageable even for not-so-active people like me. Going up to the 3rd layer was optional but I suggest you use footwear with a nice grip to avoid slipping in the mud.

It was my first time spelunking and the experience was really fun. Despite the Cave being used for filming locations that caused it to be "vandalized", I still enjoyed my experience here because of its rich history. The Cave was used when we were colonized by the Japanese and many Filipinos chose the underground path to travel to another city. The tour guide said it used to be connected to Angono and Antipolo, how cool is that right? Rumors also said that there are buried treasures in the area.

Daranak Falls, Regina Rica, Mt. Daraitan and Tinipak River (if you want an adventure). I've also heard that there is a rock formation in Tanay, forgot the name though.
