We just went in there and it was amazing! Gorgeous beaches! The beaches were pretty empty, due to coronavirus and low season probably, but it was still amazing! It was such a nice trip! Taking the ferry to Troia and enjoying the day on the beach! Just be prepared, it’s pretty windy! 😅

I have been to beaches all over the world and the beaches of Troia rival any I have been to. Relaxing, unspoiled and expansive enough not to fell crowded. Setubal is a typical Portuguese town, not at all like the more touristy towns of Sintra and Cascais.

I've been to this beach several times cause i'm almost a local and it's time for people around the world know how fantastic it is. Lovely sandy beach great water with nice temperature and a large marina near by. Great hotels right in front of part of the beach but most of it still in the wild. What a paradise! Don't miss also the beaches of Portinho da arrábida and Galapinhos in a small boat distance that you can get at the marina. Look beyond the Algarve... Setúbal have the most beautiful beaches in Portugal! Really paradise beaches!

Sol Troia beach is an amazing place, firstly it feels like you're on a tropical island, with an amazing view of Serra da Arrabida at a distance, which also looks like an island.
The sea is crystal clean - bluey/green...the beach sand is white & fine, with beautiful sand dunes behind us, there is hardly any waves, great for small children, and the shallow area is extensive before it gets deep deep. Near by there are various places to stay at the Sol Troia Resort enclosure, but Comporta has various good places to stay.

my girlfriend and i landed in Lisbon year ago, rented a car and just drove -- stopped wherever we thought may be a cool place. visited a number of beautiful small cities like Sintra, Obidos where we stayed at a mid-evil hotel -- wow, plus Cascais & Estoril and worked our way to Nazare and Fatima (wonderful experience). we looked at the map and decided to take the Ferry to Troia, not knowing what to expect and oh boy we had a most undescribable experience once we entered that island. we felt like we were at the end of the world, one way driving in and one way out. our hotel was so futuristic we could hardly believe this could exist. everything inside the huge lobby was white leather, the name of the hotel was AQUALUZ, sort of eerie but very affortable, we split everything in half, and from the 10th floor could overlook a magnificant ocean/beach -- wow, it was breath-taking. the peninsula Troia is looking at the Atlantic Ocean and the Sado River, only one hour from Lisboa. we, my GF and i have not met anyone who has ever been there -- what a great trip. also the portugal airline was heavenly, the service and friendliness from that little country Portugal was something we experienced throughout the whole trip. we picked a little restaurant, purchased a Gyros sandwich w/fries (huge) and sat at the boat harbor eating and just so in awe that we picked this serine wonder of the world.

It was a dream. The water was all shades of blue, the fine, soft almost white sand is a poem on your feet. We went in June so we basically had the place to ourselves... Kilometers of desert beach as far as the eye can see. I fell in love with the place!

I have to agree with some of the reviewers. Troia was a great disappointment. Overbuilt, crowded and totally unappealing. As a resident in Portugal, I can assure travellers that there are way more beautiful places and beaches to visit. This development should NEVER have been allowed. Its truly awful.

I found the development on the Troia Peninsula dismal.
It should never have been allowed and it completely ruins the beauty of the peaceful lagoon waters.
It is overbuilt with high apartments and hotels and I found it dismal.

On arrival, while checking in, I was greeted with a parking fine of 60 Eruo. There was nowhere to leave the car to check in and get my bearings. Second day, another ticket, apparently I was parked in a medical bay. It was not clear at all that out of 10 parking spaces in front of the hotel 2 are medical. The sign was in Portuguese like everything else. The manager was helpful enough to cancel the first but not the second ticket.
The room was spacious, however, at 140Euro per night, you get cheap furniture, no internet, and balcony faces some dead end delivery point. You get woken up in the morning by the sound of bottles being loaded/unloaded. You get two separate beds that drop out of wall, i.e. no real bed.
IF you want to use the pool it is only until 9pm and you must get the towel before 7pm and don’t forget to bring your own locker lock as there are none on offer. Did I mention you have to walk to the other side of the resort to use the pool and sauna? The sauna and steam room is ok for a 3 star hotel.
Restaurants work only certain hours and poor value. You would need to drive out at least 30 min to get to nice restaurants.
Booked for 7 days left after 2! It is a shame that the place has no soul, it is a corporate mistake. The only good thing is the beach, it has nice whitish sand. It may be a better for families with children, though I can’t see myself coming back!
Not for English speakers, you will be sorely disappointed.
