Only took some pictures outside never went inside or attended a mass service. Easy parking nearby so that was good. The dramatic mountains behind the church were nice to look at.

The outside is rather boring compared with to other stave churches, but the interior is very beautiful indeed. Unfortunately the entry is way overpriced, asking 50 NOK per person, including teenage children. Churches should not charge entry, but rather ask for donation. Only one of...More

One of the main reasons took E134 between Bergen and Oslo. Well worth a stop when arriving from Bergen before it closes. The docent was very pleasant and knowledgeable, and there are also some medieval relics as walk around. As usual, exit posted clearly by...More

Very nice to spend here some time and see and read how old this is, 1250 AD. Impressive to see how they build this and with the graveyard in front a place of serenity and rest.

The church looks nice on the inside and outside. I like all the paintings on the inside, it's not like any other church I have seen. Nice place to take a break when you're on the road.

The 13th Century Roldal Stave Church was the most interesting of the three stave churches we visited on a trip to Norway. To start with, it is still in use, so a living monument, rather than an historical artefact. The pained interior and miracle cross...More

Obviously the church is very old and beautifly preserved, all around clean and nice ....like all Norway, especially on a sunny day. Problem was that the church was closed, and it s mostly like this.....be sure to check opening hours before you go.
