Cafes, Souvenirs and nice clothing shops made a great day !
We had a very enjoyable afternoon walking around the shops and snacking at various restaurants. They have done a wonderful job of decorating the shop fronts and making lots of great photo ops. We walked the length of Thalang round and then looping down to Phangnga Road on the way back, before walking up to Dibuk road. We found the best souvenir shopping on Thalang, but also found a couple of very nice blue pottery shops on Dibuk and an incredible spa, Lamoonspa on Dibuk. It was the best foot, head and shoulder massage I've ever had. All four of us fell asleep it was so good. Overall, I'd highly recommend spending an afternoon or evening strolling through Old Phuket Town. Lots of character and we will go back for sure.

    Hard to Navigate
Maybe we needed better guidance, but we found this area difficult to walk through with its narrow half sidewalks and congestion. Motorbikes whiz by in groups and double parked cars add to the dangerous stroll through town. The Chinese temple was the highlight of this area for us.

    A must when visiting Phuket!
Sunday street food market is a must! We tried about 6 different foods/drinks. It feels local yet not too ”scary”, and some stands feel clean and fresh. We also did some shopping and then sat down at a bar to relax as the day turned to night.

    Just amazing and must see
I keep visiting Phuket for the last 30 years or so and I visited Phuket town once a very long time ago and there wasn’t much to see or do . This year after hearing about the changes there I decided to visit and honestly it was the high light of my trip this year to Phuket. The renovations that was done to all the historic buildings was amazing and the number of wonderful restaurants and cafes are too many to decide on which one to go to . I’m definitely putting a visit to Phuket town on my list of things to do every time I’m in Phuket.

    Historic area and Buildings
Lovely historic area in Phuket Old Town and featuring many buildings in the Sino-Portuguese architectural style. We have enjoyed previous walks through the area, visiting museums, galleries, shops and various dining establishments. Looks can be deceiving but I thought that some effort had been made to restore some of the old buildings that that were in a state of repair five years ago. Perhaps only a repainting, but certainly looked refreshed. No visit to Phuket Town is complete without visiting this area and connecting with its past for a brief period.

Ditch the tour company and spend as much time here as you want
Had looked at some tours to Old Phuket Town but having hired a local taxi driver to take us here from Patong, I would recommend doing some basic research yourself, putting your walking shoes on, and hitting the town for your own tour. Easy to navigate. Lots of shops and cafes and beautiful buildings to enjoy or photograph.

A must visit if you enjoy experiencing different cultures
Wonderful experience in the Old Town. Very lively nightlife and a freindly environment. The Lard Yai market on sundays is a must if you are travelling to Phuket as there are many affordable shops here, and young performers singing and playing instruments.

    Colourful buildings
Busy with lots of pretty, colourful buildings. The shops underneath didn't seem to offer anything amazing - tourist wear, souvenirs, etc - but it's nice to browse. There are lots of photo opportunities and there's always a cafe or massage place to drop in to if it's too hot or it's raining. There are even toilets down little side alleys which I was expecting to be pretty poor but they were clean and more than acceptable. I was dropped off but parking didn't look great.

    It’s pretty but that’s all
It’s cute but not as big as we expected. Also not great for shopping. The shops are a bit pricey and they don’t sell local products ( we saw a lot of products from china, europe and so on). We were hoping to find some local things but no, I guess if you’re looking for shopping you should look for a market.

    Ok
There is not that much to see. We took the bus from Karon beach to Phuket for 40 Bath and than we took the bus to Patong for also 40 Bath. Don't take the bus in a rush-hour after school, the bus can be quite full.

We had a walkaround as a pre-cursor to a cruise. he centre is totally manic but a great place for a stroll. Our guide pointed out buildings of interest, there are some great shops & cafes, a far cry from the beach resorts around the coast.
If here on a resort holiday take time out to enjoy some real local history & culture.

I had no frame of reference or knowledge of this place until I arrived. Multi-colored Sino-Portugese historic buildings really give this a place a truly unique look. Not surprised to see many Chinese and other Instagrammers getting selfie’s everywhere, some with their own pro photographers trailing behind. Some interesting shopping, good food and with quite a large Chi-Thai population quite the place to be during Chinese new year.

Old phuket Town has preserved some of the architectural styling of previous ages. Although not as bustling as it may once have been, it maintains some of this atmosphere, particularly in the evening.

Although a good half of venues are closed or shuttered, plenty remain open.

Of note in the photo I've uploaded is this building which is locked up and does not appear to have been modified in who knows how long! So whilst the buildings around have been maintained, this one has fallen to dilapidation. Id love to know the story there!

Phuket Old Town is littered with almost endless streets of shops selling souvenirs of all kinds and also quaint and colourful shop houses. Due to our hectic travel schedule, we only spent around 1.5 hours carefully scrutinising at the souvenirs and were immensely delighted to come across a stall which sell cute food magnets at an affordable price. We bought the food which we enjoyed the most at Phuket, mainly Pineapple Fried Rice, Mango Sticky Rice and Banana Roti. Next, we purchased some beautiful Thai Scarf at THB 100 each.

Should we have more time, we would have explored and shopped more, as there could be more colourful shophouses to photograph or more intricately-designed souvenirs to acquire! Nevertheless, this has been a rewarding journey and we quickly hailed a taxi around the corner of the street before sunset and departed this place with gratification.

An Old Town in almost south east of Phuket Island with colorful houses and very nice and convenient atmosphere, far from the noisiness of touristic parts of Phuket Island. Here most people are local Thai people with some simple and quiet (but alive!) Cafes & Bars and lovely Hostels, it's a very nice place for getting relaxed and enjoy walking through this Antic Bright town. When we were passing the streets of Old Town, we found a celebration in a school by chance, we had some good time there, Thai people behaved us very friendly and served us with eatables and drinks. We felt completely at home.

Old Town is pretty authentic and a nice change of scene after beaches, jungle and islands. Nice walk among the historic buildings with lots of cafes, gift shops and small restaurants.
Preferable to visit in the evening when the sun is down and the heat is off. Last Sunday there was a gastronimic bazar in Krabi street with music and karaoke and a variety of street food cooked right before your eyes (though not sure if it is every Sunday or some special event)

We stayed in Old Phuket and we loved walking around admiring lots of nicely restored buildings, - of course not all buildings are restored, but quite a few are. There are also quite a few good restaurants in this area. There are lots of shops, but I was not too impressed by the quality of the art work in the shops. But we enjoyed to look at the art work at quite a few of the walls.

The Old Phuket Town is a attraction you don’t miss! Walking the streets in the Old town is very interesting experience. It is a walk through the history of Phuket. You can enjoy the houses in the old Portugal and Chinese architecture which is so emblematic for Phuket town. The most of the old houses are now hotels, shops, cafe and restaurants but the atmosphere in the streets is very authentic and charming. Take a break of the beaches and visit for half day the Old town of Phuket and you don’t be disappointed!

Friday 14th February and a visit to Old Phuket was the last stop of our Sun Leisure World's Explore Phuket Tour

It was an opportunity to see the different architectural styles, Chinese and Portuguese, that are about the Town. The streets were lined with colourful buildings, some in better shape than others.

Two of the most memorable buildings were Museum Phuket and Sang Tham Shrine (both reviewed separately).

There are an abundance of different shops and arcades in which to browse and shop. It was interesting to see the tourist shops side by side with the normal day living shops, like fabric and hardware stores.

There was a lot of street art to be admired. There was a plethora of bars, restaurants and cafes.

We found our time here really interesting and we enjoyed wandering about exploring.

Full of old buildings with hipsters places to have a drink. A lot of shops that you can buy souvenirs or local made clothes but the prices are kinda fixed. They only give a little bit of discount if you asked for best price. The streets are relatively quiet at night since shops are closed in the evening.
