It seems to have two parts on this beach, on the right near the resorts and on the left behind the trees. I went to the wildest one, under the trees. Not lot of place because the shore is not large but lot of shadow...More

This was a beautiful beach with white sands, pretty large, not crowded. There is no where to get any shade on the beach, but there was shade and tables by the picnic area. There was also a snack bar with burgers, etc. It had tables...More

This is a beautiful beach. From an Aussie, that is a compliment. Great sand and the water is warm. You do have to pay for parking, but the access to the beach is great. Trees and rocks provide shade and shelter before the beach. Not...More

We spent a beach day here. Rented chairs and umbrella and boogie board. The beach is BEAUTIFUL! Super soft sand. Waves decent enough for light body surfing or catching some waves on a board. We had lunch at the Three Frogs Cafe and it was...More

Hapuna Beach is representative of silica white sand beaches in Hawaii – fine powder sand between the toes, mild warm breezes and crystal clear water. It is large enough to accommodate huge crowds. No elbow fights here. Lots of room for sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, and...More

We have been here 7 weeks and go to beaches 3 times per week on average. We agree that this is the best swimming beach on the West Side of the Big Island. The water provides snorkeling, waves, rolling swells, and a sand beach. If...More

This was my favorite beach on the big island. The sand was soft and the water was warm and crystal clear. There were mild waves so it was easy to swim and play in the water. They had a lifeguard, but the surf was gentle...More

Hapuna Beach State Park is a delightful white sand beach. We played and swam for hours. There are lifeguards, showers, bathrooms, shady picnic spots and good parking (there is even special needs parking down the hill nearer to the beach). Great spot. There is even...More

Hi there! We usually went in the later morning for a few hours. But truthfully, we didn't see any turtles and only some fish near a rock. We were told about a snorkelling place (as we were leaving of course lol), that was... More

Yes, you can! All beaches are public & you can access them after hours, you can even swim, if you want, but it will be at your own risk: it will be dark during winter hours and no guards on duty. You can park your car at... More
