we opted to come here instead of the more famous Goa Pindul to escape the crowd and because the photos of the caves just seemed more interesting. We did not regret it!

We went after visiting Jomblang Cave and there were only four of us, and we had three guides. The route is short, but the caves are really beautiful and the guides really livened it up with some background on the caves. You never have to worry about getting stuck because they will drag you along if your tube floats off towards the cave walls. There were a lot of small rapids, but it's mostly just floating down the river, admiring the caves. You also have the option of jumping off a 7m high ledge at the beginning into 2m deep water!

I would recommend going near the end of the day and definitely during the weekends, because prices drop from 450k IDR for a group of five (and you have to have at least five people, or you pay the excess) during the week, or 70k IDR/ person during the weekend (you don't need to have a minimum group of five). There are changing rooms and shower rooms, and they provide knee and elbow guards, as well as helmets. Bring a waterproof phone case to be able to take photos, though I saw that you can buy them on site, too.

The route is quite short, but the view is breathtaking, especially the first horizontal cave.
The guides are very concerned about safety (good), and they have good knowledge about the cave. So you will get a good explanation about the cave type (horizontal/vertical), etc.

Please note that one of the biggest challenge is not the tubing itself. The post trekking is the most tiring part. The total high is around 70-80 m, with each step 25-40 cm high.

Changing/Shower room is available, but the number is limited, so there is a possibility that you will have to queue.

After you finished your tubing, you could buy a picture of yourself for 20k IDR.

Wow we really enjoyed this place. The Cave is absolutely breathtaking.
We went on a Friday AM and it was relatively quite. We didn't need to book. Cost is low at 70,000Rp per person.
This includes all safety gear, helmet, life jacket etc. Price also includes free noodles and tea after the tubing. The tour actually goes through two caves, the first one the biggest around 700mt, with a few rapids, the second one is smaller with another rapid to go down, overall the experience is amazing lasting nearly 1 hour. You can take pictures all the way along just make sure you buy protective cover from the locals at 20,000Rp. The guides are very friendly and helpful and are very happy to take pictures for you on your phone. (No extra charge). The Climb back up is steep but not too far. Overall it is a MUST for families with kids, our girls absolutely loved it, they are 12 and 14.
We all said we would do it again.

Loved it so much. Its the first time we went for cavetubing.

From the start we had to jump down from a cliff before taking our tubes.

Some suggestions for improvements wud be to invest some in kighting up the cave as its too dark. But we still enjoyed it.

Tip #1: i would say going in as a group will give the the maximum satisfaction out of it.

The guides were really great as well.

And be warned - the tiring hike up to go back to the start point. God its a kill. But it's definitely fun having to embrace it in a group of friends.

For 140 000 Indonesian rupees (the total for 2 people), we had a blast there! For that price, you have 2 tickets and all the safety gear that's needed. You don't really need to use the "Private Day Tours" to go there (referring to the other Kalisuci Cave review on TripAdvisor) unless you need transportation.

The views inside the caves are just amazing and the water was super clean & translucid. A little bit slow-paced at times, so don't expect an adrenaline rush, just enjoy the ride and the views! It is definitely a must-see if you are in this area, or near it.

Also, quick warning, if you take the motorbike from Yogyakarta to go there, the road is overall great and safe, just make sure you avoid the fake people on the road who will try to stop you (by yelling at you) just to sell you stuff. You NEVER need to buy anything from ANYONE until you arrive at the official place (Kalisuci Cave)!

We knew this attraction from a Yogyakarta tourism webpage, Yogyes.com . They didn't wrong when they highly recommended this place to be visited. The scenery of the cave which located about 60m below the ground is unearthly exotic. With nearly 800m length milky river coloured by erotion of the lime karst in its surrounding and artistic stalagtite arranged head above, This place has something worthy to be visited for. This package still yet completed by friendly and fun guide which guide us to have a thrilling adventure such as: jump from 6m karst slope into the river (you have to feel the sensation if you have some guts), floating with rubber tube deep in the dark cave with eerie sound of bats and water drops, watching gallery of exotic stalagtite then soaking yourself together with small transparent fishes that happily tickle your skin. After cave tubing finished, the guides will immersed all of us to some fun water game that can melt the ice among stranger visitors. All of these paid our lengthy trip (about 1,5hrs car trip) from Yogyakarta downtown to this site which located at Gunung Kidul, southeast from Yogyakarta.

The location quite isolated and no signboard locating this site, so better ask locals when you already step in Kecamatan Semanu. The most distinctive sign to spot this place is a football field next to a small alley. If you came from Wonosari, this will be the first football field you will encounter on the way. When you find it, enter the small alley next to the field and you will find a big signboard locating this site.

The cost for this excitement wasn't costly. We had to pay Rp65,000 per pax (per August 2014) for entrance fee, safety equipments (safety helmet, life vest, knee and elbow covers), and snacks. Be advised, to have a spare clothes, towel, and keep your wallet, and anything not water proof equipment in safe places. The location organizer have safe lockers to keep your belonging, so you don't have to worry. If you planned to go to this site at wet season (October to March), please contact the organizer days before you go to confirm whether this site is open or not, because they will close the site if the rainfall intensity is high.

More details about this place including sample picture and organizer contact numbers can be checked at Yogyes.com site at this address:

Have a exciting trip. :)

Today tried tubing at Kalisuci Cave already! More challenging than Pindul Cave, longer track, more though, and quite damn tired but fun!

Absolutely try this. So this attraction is Easy - Medium difficulty. Pindul Cave is easy. So welcome to Yogyakarta! Better you come in the dry season.

Combined this the same day after a trip to Jomblang cave.
Great fun as we went in a small group! Wasn't overly crowded too when we went, so that was nice, as we could be freely silly and enjoy the views at the same time!
Pretty relaxing, no major rapids. Guides were helpful, and created a very friendly atmosphere. Some were quite comical too. They'll mention visiting through 4 caves, which is basically 3 small horizontal caves and a 'vertical cave'. The whole experience lasted about 1-1.5hrs.
Its price of Rp 70000 perperson is really affordable, considering it includes safety gear, guides, and even provided noodles at the end of the ride.
Worth going if you're in the area :)

Been there with some friends. Unfortunately, it was raining a day before our shot and made the river cappuccino colored. Well, it was a great and fun tubing. A lot of cascades. We loved it. Next, we'll try to come in dry season, when the water is clear and as beautiful as the ads photos hahaha..
