The bus shuttle from Colmar Tropicale was at every 1/2 hour and you can get there at any time of the day. The shuttle bus will stop at a designated parking area and one has to climb up the steps to reach the landing point of the Japanese village. For an elderly person who cannot walk is not advisable to go. Last 20 years ago, we can easily drive all the way up to the landing station. It was prohibited to drive up now due to landslides near the place. I just wish the management do something to slippery steps that lead to the Japanese Tea House. It was narrow, steep and slippery during wet weather . The management should expand the steps, better railing along the way.

I went to Berjaya Hill on the Saturday of the last two weeks, 15-07-2023. The entrance fee cost RM 14 per adult, which we considered okay if the place was well-maintained. We stopped at the Japanese Village first and found that it was not properly maintained, with some sections closed or looking abandoned. The most frustrating thing was the photograph section located at the Japanese Village's main entrance.
Upon attempting to enter the Japanese Village, we were stopped by four Malay youngster photographers. They stood in a line, trying to prevent us from passing the entrance and insisted on taking free photos, but we politely declined. However, they persisted in offering us free photos despite our rejections. Eventually, we had to firmly decline again, saying we didn't want any photos even if they were free. We thanked them and walked away. Suddenly, one of the young photographers scolded us from behind, saying, "buat bodoh jer." My friend confronted the guy and asked why he said that. We had already declined the offer, so there was no reason for him to treat us rudely. He remained silent and didn't offer any apology. We felt disappointed to have spent RM 14 each to visit the place and then be treated so disrespectfully by the workers there. It was a letdown.

Whole experience 1/5.
Overall looks run down. Garden wasn't as nice as before. Lots of weeds. No nice flowers or unique plants. Looks like someone's backyard garden. Only 1 rubbish bin provided near kimono rental hut. Saw a few rubbish everywhere. Can purchase RM 1 fish food. it was packed in a red ang pow packet. There was a hut to rest beside the fish pond but it looks dirty. I don't think it was sanitised.
Amenities- Souvenir shop is closed and looks abandon. Public toilet available at car park but looks bad.
Accessibility - 1/5 . Be prepared to walk few flights of steep steps from car park to a small road, then walk another 5 mins to Japanese Village. It's not friendly for senior citizens.
It would be nice if management allow visitors car to drive up to main area for drop pick up and drop off.

It's about a 3 km hike uphill from Colmar Tropicale and is driveable by car. There's a steep walk to the entrance. The gardens are beautiful. Many of the structures are dated and well-worn. You can rent a kimono for taking photos but would caution with the cleanliness in light of Covid-19.

Little did we know, we had to hike up to reach the village. Tried to enjoy it but, the staff were sooo rude that it spoiled the moment right then. Same thing happened to one of the reviewers before me, we were forced to take photos and even talked behind our backs including our parents after we politely refused... the said something like ' tak payah cakap bahasa melayu lah sebab x faham bahasa, etc, select ah...' what? They didn't even do that to the ones in front of us and behind.
Other reason is that, the place wasn't well maintained, so for us it's not as worth it to go there, another thing spoiled for making me have no more mood to try on the kimonos for photos... hmm.

We went to Colmar Tropicale for a half day visit during Malaysia Muslim Hari Raya holiday, and I must say this place is really torn, old, and no worth to pay for the entrance ticket.
They charge about RM12 for adults and RM8 for kids to visit the resort, we heard it was famous of its French style resort and decided to explore into it. It was really disappointed that Berjaya Group did not maintain it well as I felt that the place is just like a neglected baby.
Once you enter the resort, you will enter the street with some souvenir shops which nothing much to see, there is a big stage with old, outdated set up and lot of broken chairs !
The worst is the Japanese Village, whereby just a small Japanese house with a local Chinese lady sitting in it and asking tourist to take photo with the costume at RM20, the koi pool is extremely polluted, dirty with some pity koi fish looks terribly surviving.
I thought of checking in one day and I am so glad I did not. Something have to do by the management without delay.

We DID NOT manage to visit the Japanese Village nor the Botanical gardens despite paying RM 15 each (Adult ticket) for both the Japanese Village and the Botanical Gardens. This was because we traveled with an elderly relative who had knee issues and could not walk up the stairs. And there were no other ways for us to get up other than the hundreds of steps from the carpark. It seems ridiculous that such a tourist attraction doesn't have wheelchair access at all. So disappointing.

A nice place for sightseeing. What I don't understand is why the hotel gives its customers a "complimentary pass" to enter the Botanical Gardens and Japanese Garden... when both attractions are actually free/open to public? Also, one can rent kimonos for RM20 here for photo-taking purposes. Not suitable for physically impaired or older folk. Anyway, wouldn't recommend to visit this place in the afternoon as it gets too hot under the afternoon sun. Morning visits brings out the best from this area.
Important note: THE GARDEN CLOSES AT 5.30PM SO PLAN AHEAD! This is why the garden is best visited in the morning.
Also, one can take a shuttle bus from Colmar Tropicale/French town to this garden for free. Note that shuttle times are subject to change ever so often so do check schedules ahead of time.

There is a free shuttle going to the Japanese Village. The Free shuttle to Japanese Village is every 45 minutes. You may Set your alarm while strolling the French themed resort. If botanical garden is not your thing you can skip this. But overall, I always want to wear a Kimono dress and it's probably the closet experience I can get without going to Japan. So if you like this kind of thing. Visitors can wear Japanese Kimono for RM 20. Not bad for a photo ops.
There is also a Koi Ponds and Man made falls. Don't expect too much as they are not really well maintained. I heard a lot of bad reviews about Japanese Village, but I still checked it anyway it just a few minutes from the resort and the shuttle is free. You have to see these things right before your eyes and well, I really enjoyed the kimono photo ops. If you're not into Botanical or any of this, then i suggest you can just skip this whole thing.

Seriously this place is too boring for me. Will never go back again even if its free. Feel cheated of rm26 for a family of 2 plus one toddler. Now i know why not many people will come.
