the place is quite a drive from the highway exist, but pleasant and enjoyable. The national park is not far (15 minutes drive away) from shops and restaurant.

I camped a night in the park and it was peaceful, quiet and nice. Clean toilet and with a bucket for cold water shower if you want.

Famed as the southernmost tip of mainland Asia, this park provides an extensive walkway for nature lovers to have a good walk among mangrove swamps as well as the seafront facing Singapore.

Good place for school students to get close to nature as well as learn about mud clams, snakes, water iguanas etc.

A must-go for everyone regardless of age. Fees are very reasonable, ranging from RM3 - RM5. Lots of nice sceneries to admire. Photographers will love this place.

Poor park management

After hours drive from Singapore today, December 27, 2015, I learned seeing a notice at ticket kiosk that access to southernmost monument was closed with no reopening date mentioned. No announcement on official website as well. Visitors, however, must pay normal entrance fees without any discount nor incentive offers. Furthermore, the fare was not acceptable international currencies such as Singapore dollars, which is stronger and more profitable than local currency RM. Toilets were not flush due to broken water piping. I see Malaysian tourism is wasting one of the world's best geographical attractions under poor management.

Honestly, I wouldn't come all the way here if it wasn't for a company road trip.

A part from being at the southernmost tip of mainland Asia, there is nothing must here. Unless you love reading about the different types of mangrove plants and animals. You need to pay to enter this park. And rubbish is found all over the mangrove. Its not a very good sight and to know that most of this rubbish might have been washed up from the sea or from other tourist visiting the park. Just shows how 'clean' we are in Malaysia.

When we reached the tip, everyone whipped out their cameras and took pictures with the big stainless steel globe just to make our 'mark'. I honestly rather visit other parks.

Southernmost tip of mainland Asia - Tg Piai and how not to get lost

My family took a day trip to Tanjung Piai National Park to see the southernmost tip of mainland Asia.

After paying a small entrance fee, we entered the main building and was soon on a walkway with mangroves on both sides.

The signages were not very clear in the national park so here is a photo of where to turn to reach the southernmost tip.

You need to turn left where it points to Observation Tower 2. As you are walking out, you won't see the sign to the southernmost tip but when you walk back from the jetty, you will see it. It is on the reverse side of the signboard, which of course you will not notice when you are walking towards the jetty! For a while, we thought we went to the wrong location.

It was a nice 0.5km stroll on the walkway to the tip with a cool sea breeze.

BTW, the seafood in Kukup is over-rated and expensive. I can find cheaper and better crab dishes easily in Kuala Lumpur.

Southernmost point closed without any notice in website, lots of rubbish

The main attractions point,southernmost point was closed for more than few month without notified tourist,lots of rubbish in between the mangrove tree, hardly can see the mangrove ecosystem and animal as it's not preserved well.

The park itself does look a little rundown and there are garbage everywhere. But it was explained in one of the descriptions that mangroves do functions as traps for garbage from the sea/ocean. People seem to not read I suppose when they complain about the garbage.

The amount of garbage should be a stark reminder to Malaysians to not throw their rubbish everywhere.

If you took your time and look closely, you'll find all sort of animals. I encountered some lizards, crabs and mudskippers. I found footprints of otters (that's what I think). If you stop to listen, you can hear different kinds of birds chirping and the macaques making noises.

I suppose they don't have that many staff to maintain the place so that's why it looks a little rundown. People should go here when the sun isn't burning you alive. I wish they open earlier and close later though.

But all in all, it's an okay place to take a brisk walk.

Honestly, we wouldn't come all the way here if we are not around Kukup.
There is nothing to see. No wonder the counter staff sold us 2 tickets for RM6.

We can't even reach the globe platform because every platforms is closed for renovation.
The further we go is the jetty plank walks!!! The trip was all done within 30 mins.

We do not mind to paid the entrance fees, but at least the staff should inform us about the undergoing renovation and the closing of most platforms. Feel cheated!!!

We came here by Oct 2013. The scene is great and we love its natural environment. There are lots of mangrove. We are very curious about these special trees which the roots are all above the mud. Because there is full moon high tide, the bridge toward the southernmost tip of mainland in Asia is flooding. We have to walk across the water bridge. This is very fun. We just like this refreshing experience. The tourist is few therefore you can walking freely and enjoy the beautiful view as long as you want. Recommend to anyone who love natural landscape.

A worthwhile trip to a RAMSAR site.

This was my second trip to the site and will visit again when possible. Being the southernmost tip of mainland Asia, the site is unique as it offers beautiful sights.... getting close and perseonal with the mangrove plants, monkeys, snails, horseshoe crabs, mudskippers, birds and the flora and fauna if we are observant enough. From the platforms and plank walks, one can see the distant island and part of Singapore as well as several ships berthing in the Malacca Straits. Entrance fee is reasonable. More garbage tins should be made available in the park and plastic bottles strewn or washed ashore should be collected regularly. This park has high potential as a tourist attraction in the area and more could be done by the park authorities to improve the facilities available for visitors.
