Gozo and Comino Islands: including Blue Lagoon, Crystal Lagoon & caves

331 reviews
Get away from the main island of Malta in search of sea and sunshine on this tour from Bugibba. Visit the Crystal Lagoon (if traveling in June-October), followed by the Blue Lagoon on Comino for swimming and snorkeling. From here, continue to Gozo Island, where you have the choice of enjoying free time at your leisure or taking a tour of the island's historic sites before cruising back to Bugibba via the Santa Maria pirate caves.

I love pottering round on boats, so when we booked to stay for three nights in Xlendi Bay on the island of Gozo whilst visiting Malta, I was pleased to see a boat rental place right on the quayside. I enquired and found there were several motorboats I could hire and self drive without needing a licence and so we choose a nice, new, 100HP engined speedboat and booked it for a full day (8 hours). We collected the boat at 9am from the owner, Louis, and got a full control and safety briefing from a couple of his team who also loaded our bags and picnic onto the boat and provided a cool box with ice to keep our drinks cold. When we reserved the boat the night before, I paid a deposit of €30 and Louis just told me pay the balance, plus fuel costs, after we returned from the trip. We then set off towards the Blue Lagoon which should be about 20 minutes easy sailing from Xlendi. Unfortunately, as soon as we exited the very calm and protected Xlendi Bay, we realised that the weather was quite windy and the waves were therefore very high and rough! 😩 We were only able to travel slowly so as not to crash through the waves too hard and it therefore took nearly an hour of very slow and uncomfortable traveling to get there. By the time we arrived both my girlfriend and I were feeling quite seasick 🤢 However, once in the calm of the protected Blue Lagoon we quickly recovered and spent a fantastic day swimming and snorkeling in the stunning clear water, and fed loads of fish with the picnic that neither of us could face eating 😂. It was so great to have our own boat to experience this lovely place that we stayed longer than originally intended, and also because neither of us fancied sailing any more than needed given the rough seas. We eventually headed directly back and got back to Xlendi about 3:30pm. Much to our surprise, Louis only charged me for 6 hours instead of the expected 8 hours I'd booked for. And even better, he gave me a €10 discount because of the weather - very unexpected and generous 😊 So the boat and the service are exceptional. Having your own boat in Blue Lagoon is amazing and highly recommended. Just make sure that the weather forecast is good, or that you have strong stomachs before you hire your own boat!

During our holiday we hired boats, jet skis, kayaks and pedlos. Over the last 5 years Louis and the team have always looked after us and their equipment is always in great order. A superb family run business who always give you their greatest attention. I cannot recommend them enough. See you all soon.

Terence was our skipper for our 4 our guided tour around Comino and Gozo aboard Delfino, a beautiful cruiser! We cruised into a couple of stunning bays snorkelling and swimming. Packed lunch on the boat. Terence was a brilliant young captain. All his skill was put to the test though. A incident with a random out of control speedboat damaged Delfino so we couldn’t continue our voyage of adventure. We will be back and if we’re lucky we’ll get young Terence as our skipper again. Yo ho ahoy as Capt. Jack Sparrow might say.

At least once a year, we rent a boat in Xlendi with these guys. Never been disappointed. It's a fantastic opportunity to venture to beautiful swimming spots all around the island. Thank you!
