    Quick little stop
Its very easy to miss this place, there's one small sign pointing down towards some steps. But once you get down its a beautiful little shrine. I'm not religious but it definitely has a calming feel about it. There's letters and prayers on the walls, I started to read a few but a lot of them were very sad and private so I quickly stopped. Worth going in if youre walking by, you can be in and out in a few minutes.

    Amazing
This grotto is easily missed but its on the main road from the village to the bay opposite the main church. There are 78 steps down to the grotto so its not suitable for anyone dodgy on their feet, Once inside there is a small place of worship, so be respectful and letters and photos from parishioners seeking divine help. One plus point is that it is free to visit.

Take steps down from the large church, cross the road and follow another set of steps and you will find this shrine cut in the limestone. White statue of Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus. Many miraculous interventions were attributed to the Lady of the Grotto and it became famous.

Don't be fooled into thinking that the entrance down a hundred or so steps, will short cut you down the hill to Melleiha - it won't and you'll have to walk all the way up them again just to find yourself back on the same steep road once more.

Go anyway. It's quite haunting.

It's a natural spring grotto, small, intimate and covered with loving sentiments from peoples throughout the world praying for miracles and leaving momentoes of loved ones.

Touching stuff.

Were passing so went down the hundred or so steps. Not much to see if you aren't religious - nothing of any artistic or historic merit. Then back up the steps...

Climb down a long staircase to visit the shrine and say a prayer or light a candle for someone or just take a minute to meditate.

This worth walking down, and therefore up from afterwards, all the stairs. It is a charming little grotto with such a atmsophere to it. Very moving. Well worth a visit and easy enough to find.

This is a beautiful and serene place and the atmosphere is sanctified. Just the walk to get there is charming in itself. Spending time with the Holy Mother is well worth the visit.

The entrance is on a main road out of Mellieha with steep steps down into the small chapel. This was a very calming experience and it was amazing to read all the messages left on the walls.

If you are in Mellieha, do have a little wonder up to the church & square. Worthwhile planning a holiday around Mellieha's festive celebrations starting from 7th September. There are fireworks are organised around the church, absolutely awsome.
