It is a nice destination for a half-day tour. You can walk/hike up and down the hill and it is a nice view over the bay and over to Gozo.

Walked out of Nature Reserve at Riserva bus stop midday today, and chatted to a gentleman who was placing a sign to the effect that the Red Tower was closed for renovation.

We walked up to the Red Tower on New Years Day. Unfortunately it was closed (Also closed Christmas Day and Easter Sunday) so we couldn't go inside but the walk there and around the surrounding area gave great views to Gozo and back to Mellieha.
Decided to walk from the hotel, used the 2000 nature walk as a cut through. Steep climb but definitely worth it. Views from top are amazing. Walked further up the road after and found total peace and quiet and even better views.
I returned in December, with a friend this time, who agreed it's a great quirky little place to explore for half an hour or so.
