Clean, gently sloping, plenty of space!
Sep 2021
Sunbeds and umbrellas for hire at 10 Euros for the day, seemed a little steep but is essential even in the September sun. The beach has lifeguards and slopes very gently, no noticeable currents and it seems to be very safe.

Love this beach
Oct 2021 • Friends
Our favourite beach on our 10 day trip to Malta in September. We went twice, both times on a weekday and it wasn’t too busy so we had our pick of sun bed spots. Sunbeds were very comfy! We paid 10 euros for two sunbeds and an umbrella. There are plenty of restaurants and food stalls on the beach front and there was plenty of space to park for free on the road side. Lovely sand and lovely sea!

Bring your snorkel
Oct 2021 • Couples
This is nice sand and rare on Malta. Is is shallow so nice for children to paddle. Great for snorkeling near the handy restaurant bar to one side. Easy to climb in and you stay shallow. The star 2as knocked off for some litter. Blame the customers especially as there are several bins, but someone with business on the beach should pay some attention.

Run down area and rude and aggressive hosts.

Specifically about Margherita Apartments (Margaret’s Place on AirBnB)

Apartment looks as shown in pictures. Clean and tidy. Some appliances are a bit old fashioned - a smart TV would be a good addition unless you bring your own DVDs as the TV channel choice is rubbish. Gas oven a bit fiddly. Was not advised to get hot water that we needed to use switches to heat it up so first few showers were cold until we figured it out ourselves. Margaret was helpful when we had queries at the beginning of our stay. Pool area is nice but for much of the day it is covered by shade. Area is a bit remote and shabby. Don’t stay if you are looking for a pretty view, although there aren’t many nice views in Malta apart from in the northern coast and in Valletta due to ongoing construction. The staff in the closet large supermarket are extremely rude snd don’t give the best impression of Maltese people. It’s also very hilly and roads are in poor condition. More about this later…. I was aware that A/C came at an additional cost before booking but still think it’s a bit of a rip off. What really ruined the trip for me was the check out. We had asked for a return transfer to the airport before arriving and Margaret suggested a time which I agreed to. The night before I had a fall (as I said, roads are hilly/steep/in poor condition and in places very slippery). This pain kept me awake well into early hours of the morning and I knew I would be a bit slow on my feet the next day so sent a msg the night before asking for the transfer to come 30 minutes later. Margaret said this wasn’t possible as the driver had subsequent pick ups. Not wanting to hold him up I asked her to cancel it and that I’d book a taxi (local app popular in Malta is excellent value and always has drivers on hand). I carried on packing and was surprised when transfer driver arrived. Our neighbour advised is and kindly asked if we wanted us to advise him we’d cancelled as we were trying to pack our final belongings as quickly as possible. While trying to do this Margaret’s husband knocked and was very rude and abrupt telling us we had to take the transfer NOW. I told him I had text his wife to cancel and he repeatedly told me I had not (I have screen shots to evidence my request to cancel). This debate was not only stressful but made the whole check out take much longer than if he left us alone. I asked him to close the front door so that I could calmly pack the rest of my belongings and not leave anything behind as he was making me feel stressed and hurried. He barked that I should have packed the night before but some things cannot be packed until just before leaving that morning (such as toothbrush, phone charger, toiletries needed to was etc.) In the end we were told whether or not we took the transfer we’d still have to pay. Eventually and reluctantly we got into the transfer car after 10am. If Margaret had honoured my request to leave at 9.45am this stress and conflict could have been avoided. Also what happened to the driver’s “subsequent bookings”? This left a very sour taste in my mouth and I 100% do not recommend staying this apartment. Margaret’s husband’s behaviour was truly shocking and made me really nervous, he was so aggressive. Also, if you bruise easily or are a bit clumsy like me, be wary of the beds. All have very sharp corners and mattresses (hard) too small for the beds and I left my legs covered in bruises.

It was ok but I wouldn't go back
Sep 2021 • Couples
The beach is very small but it's nice and sandy and water is lovely and clear and calm. HOWEVER....the resort of Mellieha is not very well catered ...very few restaurants and most nights ( in September! ) We couldn't get a table anywhere. Not many shops which close quite early. Not a very nice area to looks at, very run down and dirty. I would definitely not come back to this part of Malta . I would recommend Gozo...we did a day trip there and it was gorgeous.

Not the best in Malta by far
Sep 2021 • Couples
It’s a nice beach with a few options of where to eat or drink. The water is lovely, my only criticism would be that when we visited the beach had a foul smell around where the sunbeds were. I would recommend other beaches if you’re looking for something more picturesque such as Paradise Bay

Adorable beach with some misses in experience
Sep 2021 • Friends
Fabulous beach with great restaurant Il Pirates, warm water, even in September and sandy beach strip. Shortcomings here are the ugly construction to the left, spoiling half of the experience, lack of beach service - one should be picking the drinks himself and the nearby road, which is usual for Malta island beaches. Sunsets for 2 are €15.

Fabulous beach

Soft sand, warm shallow waters & great views. Plenty of beach bars, loos if you hire a sun lounger for the day (which come with a brolly and table and are kept clean). Best beach in Malta.
