Great place, super-scenic, terrific sunset, big sand dunes and great beach. We have been there for 5 days, taking pics every day and it was relaxing and magic. Most of the people are walking along the shore, so if you stay just 30 meters from the shore, everything is peacefull.....we have been there in January 22 and the temperatures were perfect, 25-26 °C, our tan was very good at the end (as you can see from the pics of my partner). Probably in summer will be too hot and you will need to stay closer to the shore for frequent dips. The wind was strong only 1 day, the rest was justa nice wind. Of course, a long stretch of the beach is nude-beach, but naturists and texile people were mixed toghether with no problems.

Don't think you can roam freely on these Dunes any more. There are now just a few marked pathways when walking from the Riu Palace end of Playa del Inglés and these take you only to the beachfront. The official excuse is that it is a Natural Park and that this measure is to preserve it. This is not the only such Park in Spain and these vigorous restrictions have only been put in place here with, seemingly, such force with park rangers ordering tourists back onto the designated paths. There is, apparently, the threat of fines for transgressions but didn't experience or witness this although there are plenty of rumours circulating that drones and helicopters are being used to enforce a crackdown!!! Certainly there are signs and information boards about sticking to pathways as well as posts set into the sand marking these new routes.
So, that seems to be the end of 'free roaming.'
Although there are a lot of naughty tourists everywhere, including here where rubbish has been left on the dunes rather than taken away with them, the controlling measures do seem rather over the top. After all, shouldn't we be able to ENJOY this stupendous place without such draconian controls? This is just the sort of thing that many holidaymakers will surely be upset about as, traditionally, this was a great place for roaming free and naked even!
There has been an official map released to show s totally forbidden to enter zone...o.k...fair enough but what about the rest of this huge space? Are we to be excluded from enjoying this landscape for ever?

well, what can be said. please remember that i am writing this as we are still in the grip of covid and will bear this in mind. i am here for a month having a break from travelling for the last 2 years. i wanted somewhere warm over the xmas/new year period and it has delivered. very comfatable. i go for a lot of walks and get to see everything at ground level and i have to say the whole place is a mixture of dilapitated and modern. i have been to 2 "shopping centres" which to say are derilict is bigging them up. all the concrete has starting to crumble and roofs missing and the reinforced bars are rusty and exposed. not closed due to covid as it looks like a few years. the medium sized hotels have sprung up and have been allowed to build without proper checks regarding safe building practacies. the dunes are really magnificent and only a brave person will try and walk it but the walk on the beach from playa del ingles to Maspalmas is a good stretch of the legs. plenty of bars and resturants along the waterfronts run by a mixture of scandinavian and european and some are keeping with rules and asking for covid passports. many well stocked supermarkets. a good bus and taxi network. on the whole an enjoyable break and if keeping out of the bigger more expensive hotels your money will go further.

We loved the shopping and restaurants here but the actual sea entrance was rocky so not really good for swimming unless you have sea shoes. The gay beach is at kiosk 7 towards the dunes.

The place is not full of restaurants but is quite fun. It’s hotter in Puerto Rico so if you wanna get tanned go there.

Much is perfect here for a great beach-holiday.
Too bad, that all that is spoiled several times a day by a very noisy plane, which is cruising the sky for half an hour at least each time.
And shame on the municipality of Maspalomas, that does not act against it.

Visited Maspalomas and found it much better than the edge of Playa De Inglis where we were staying. Great shops and places to eat and nice areas to walk too. Seemed a much classier resort
