About
We are Inés & Juanjo, 2 local guides in Gran Canaria. We created our company, Sky Rebels, in 2013. Our main idea is to show you our beautiful island from a local point of view, creating unique experiences that will make you enjoy an unforgettable day. On our excursions and hiking tours, we guarantee that you will always go with a small group of maximum 6 passengers, that we will not make any commercial stops and that you will discover places far away from the tourist crowds. Our activities go beyond a simple excursion going from one point to another: you will discover amazing volcanic landscapes, you will get to know the amazing history of the Canary Islands, you will enjoy a unique nature, you will get to know our culture, our music, our gastronomy. If you really want to get to know Gran Canaria, don't hesitate to book one of our activities. Welcome to Gran Canaria!

Day trip with Sky Rebels all around the Island of Gran Canaria. Today was 27C in Masaplomas and 20c with a breeze at the top and centre of the island. My partner hiked 1.9km and a 500m altitude change up crazy steep hill (I started then opted out when my ankle and knee said nope!) He got some fab photos of the highest point on the mountain. We had lunch made by our local tour guides - Ines and Juanjo, native Masaplomans, then we went around the volcano to the center of the caldera. Finally we visited the oldest town on the island, an artisan area, and then the 8km x2km sand dunes (national park). We had a great day out, and learned that despite 3 million tourists a year who normally stay on massive resorts - there is SO much more to the island than hotels, hotel pools, and a beach. Worth every euro we spent for the time, experience, and tour. Thanks to our tour guides who were fantastically entertaining and accommodating! Will tour with them again.

This was a really well-planned an executed tour.
The mini bus was very comfortable,we had a brilliant driver and tour guide.
Lunch was a delightful range of food and drinks.
A brilliant way to see the interior of the island and learn about its heritage.
Thoroughly recommended!

Wow. I can't not praise the team at sky rebels for such a fantastic evening. They are so professional and so welcoming.

I've sky dive in Gran Caneria but I have to say this is better and so much cheaper.

There is nothing like this out there and you just have to try it.

You get to see the island in such a beautiful way. Over the sea, over the dunes. We even flew over my hotel.

Luckily my flight was late in the evening so I even got to see the sunset while I was flying. Truly amazing.

I shall be flying again in September, that is for sure.

Thank you very much Lee for sharing a great afternoon with us! We really had fun with Donna and you; you are a lovely couple. And of course, we expect to see you again in september so you have time enough to practice a litte bit. Just concentrate and say it loud: "¡Sky Rebels, mi niño!" ;-) Best regards from Gran Canaria: Gavioto, Juanjo and Inés

Even though I stayed in Puerto Rico which is about 30 min drive to the airstrip, and outside the "free transfer zone" Ines came to pick me up and was already waiting outside my hotel early in the morning. Ines is an awesome woman and told me a lot about the Canary Isles, other tourist attraction I might be interested in and what to stay away from.

I was second in line to fly. While I waited for my turn, some wind had begun to develop which made it impossible for a safe take-off. We decided to wait to see if the wind would settle and while we waited Juanjo(the pilot) told us a lot about the Paratrike and showed us its safety equipment and what not. The wind didn't settle so Ines and Juanjo decided that we should do another attempt in the evening. Ines drove me all the way back to Puerto Rico and enjoyed my day there while I waited for her to pick me up again.

Again, Ines was already waiting outside the hotel. We drove back to the airstrip and Juanjo was already there rigging the paratrike. This time I was the only customer there and it is beyond me that they spent the whole evening only so that I could get up in the air, when they easily could have just given me another appointment later that week when they had other customers.

At this time I had spent so "much" time with Ines and Juanjo and while we we're waiting for the perfect take-off conditions I felt that I was spending the evening with real friends.

As for the flying experience? It was an ABSOLUTE blast! You feel completely safe knowing Juanjo sits behind you and he does an amazing job with pointing out things worth paying attention to. We even saw a Hammershark that evening which allegedly is a pretty rare sight and Juanjo made the paratrike spiraling down so we could look closer. I even got to fly the paratrike for a couple of minutes, it was fantastic!

After we landed we did the ceremony where you get your "flying license" (which I wont spoil) and its a lot of fun!
Ines drove me all the way back to Puerto Rico even though I said I could take a taxi, which she refused since it would be expensive.

This was a truly memorable day with a heartwarming couple and I will definitely recommend it to anyone!

This couple puts so much much energy and details into their tour, you will have a wonderful time. Our experience was above and beyond any regular tour, their love and expertise of the island is infectious. A wonderful home-cooked picnic alongside wonderful views and exploring. Unforgettable for all of the right reasons.

Fantastic day out with two friendly people who are passionate about Gran Canaria and who are happy to share their passion with you and it is certainly infectious! Very knowledgeable about the history of the island and its people. We know a lot more now than we did this morning! As well, we were treated to a sumptuous picnic in the forest complete with wine and honey rum, all delicious. Thank you Juan and Ines for a great day, not forgetting Lupita and the 'magic bag'.
If you are looking for a day trip with none of the usual commercial stops, but a fun day out with friends this is the one to go on.😊 Muchas gracias mi nino

*** The BEST day of our holiday ***

I am going to begin this review with my feelings when we pulled up at our hotel at the end of the day. I was disappointed. Disappointed that our wonderful day had come to an end!

My husband our three children and I spent the day exploring all the incredible things Gran Canaria has to offer with Ines and Juan.

They picked us up at our hotel entrance at 9.00. They were there on time waiting for us. Their car is immaculate and very comfortable and our tour was tailored to our needs.

We first drove to the Gran Canaria mountains, stopping in Degollada de la Yegua and Santa Lucia Valley which both have spectacular views.

Then we drove on to Tunte (a traditional Canarian village) where we walked around with Ines who taught us about the history of the island - from the architecture and traditional building methods to the ancient religions and beliefs of the first Canarian settlers. We also had a delicious homemade Canarian snack here which we all really enjoyed.

Then we drove on to Presa de los Horno. We stopped for lunch at the Biosphere Reserve and Ines and Juan made us a beautiful homemade Canarian meal made with local products. They catered to our specific requirements and produced a luxury lunch for us washed down with an excellent bottle of Rioja and local honey rum!

After lunch we went to Pico de las Nieves , the highest point in Gran Canaria and then to Caldera de los Marteles - a volcanic crater - which is very interesting to see up close.

We then drove to Agüimes (the village of craftsmen) which was beautiful and not touristy. We had a coffee and ice cream in a traditional bar.

Then we then drove to the east coast where we discovered how windy it is there! And finally to the Maspalomas Dunes which look like a mini Sahara desert in Gran Canaria! They drove us back to our hotel and we arrived at about 6:30pm.

Every minute of the tour was interesting and fun. Ines and Juan were such excellent guides and entertainers. They kept us all happy and laughing all day which is all the more impressive with 3 children.

We covered a lot of ground, saw so many things and learned so much but it wasn’t a tiring day. It was fun, fascinating we were all sad when it was over!

We highly highly highly recommend SKY REBELS!

We have been visiting Gran Canaria for over 20 years, with samll children and as they have grown up, we travel with friends. We have always stayed in the Maspalomas/Meloneras area and the furthest we have ventured has been Purto Mogan and Las Palmas on the public buses.
This holiday I researched the various web sites as we wanted to explore the "real" Island and see the in-land areas.
We found the Sky Rebels site and it ticked all of our boxes - Small number of people (max 6), location of the tour, lunch and pick up from our hotel.
The morning of the trip, we were met by Ines and Juan at our hotel, who greeted us and explained the days itinerary.
We spent the day with a lovely couple who were energetic, fun, knowledgable and passionate of their Island's and it's history.
I have been to Gran Canaria many many times and learned more in that 1 day.
Also, the transport was top class and the food we had for lunch was of the highest quality and superb, all sourced locally, which goes along with thier ethos.
If you want to see and do more than hotel and beach and you have and interest in culture and history.
I seriously suggest you experience what my wife and friends were able to experince last week.
When we return to the Island, we will be looking forward to Ines and Juan's 2nd tour.
P.S. We booked via Viatour, who we have used for many years as we did not know Sky Rebels, but next time we will directly with them.
