Magnificent monument

This castle has a long history. Built to be a defense against Arab influence, it played an important role in the Portuguese monarchy. Was the house of D.Dinis, King of Portugal

Very beautiful castle. Some parts are destroyed, but the ones that keep firm are beautiful. Very panoramic with a great view for the city of Leiria.

It was 5 years between visits to this Castelo for me. In the last yeas they have really preserved the lovely castle. It was lush, green and well taken care of. They were some new features added to the gardens of this castle. It is a great piece of history and again well taken care of. €2.10/person is a small... More

This is an inexpensive structure to visit (just over 2 euros). It is a small, deteriorated castle which needs a little tender loving care. or some more English signs explaining things. You can climb all over it and get some great views over the town and country-side. Despite its place in history and beauty, it feels like a "second tier"... More

Besides being huge, really huge and have an amazing view from Leiria, you'll see a Castle very well maintained! Entrance is 2 or 3 Euros ...mandatory visit!

Needed to pay to visit the castle. Around €2.3. You get awesome views over the city and the hills around. Must pay attention to your kids and your feet because there are almost no guard rails to avoid any fall!

Not expensive to visit, with a great view to the city. A great part of the history of PortugalA lot of events around the year give life to the monument. Great medieval feasts.

Lovely place to spend an hour, the castle has not had any horrible 'improvements' done to it and has some interesting little exhibitions to see. Views of Leiria and surrounding country are worth the climb

The views over town are incredible. The place was partly redone keeping authenticity in mind. Good activity programs during the summer. Comfortable shoes are crucial!
