This castle is kind of unique: it is the most intact (of whole Portugal) regarding Castles as they were back in time: rooms, layout, cobbled streets, etc.. Of course you find others that are restored and have more to see, but this one is still quite authentic. On some days you may even see the ocean on one side and... More

Beautiful castle that's partially ruined but enough preserved to keep it interesting. Be prepared to clamber a bit over rough ground so wear some proper footwear. Just 2 euro entry fee, a bargain.

This partially restored medieval castle has a very long history. A lot of the written detail concentrated on the restoration works, rather than the stories the building could tell but there is enough to interest people who want a taste of what life might have been like in the turbulent period of the "reconquest". The grounds would be excellent for... More

This castle has a long history. Built to be a defense against Arab influence, it played an important role in the Portuguese monarchy. Was the house of D.Dinis, King of Portugal

Very beautiful castle. Some parts are destroyed, but the ones that keep firm are beautiful. Very panoramic with a great view for the city of Leiria.

It was 5 years between visits to this Castelo for me. In the last yeas they have really preserved the lovely castle. It was lush, green and well taken care of. They were some new features added to the gardens of this castle. It is a great piece of history and again well taken care of. €2.10/person is a small... More

This is an inexpensive structure to visit (just over 2 euros). It is a small, deteriorated castle which needs a little tender loving care. or some more English signs explaining things. You can climb all over it and get some great views over the town and country-side. Despite its place in history and beauty, it feels like a "second tier"... More

Besides being huge, really huge and have an amazing view from Leiria, you'll see a Castle very well maintained! Entrance is 2 or 3 Euros ...mandatory visit!

Needed to pay to visit the castle. Around €2.3. You get awesome views over the city and the hills around. Must pay attention to your kids and your feet because there are almost no guard rails to avoid any fall!
