About
With generations of tradition in wine production, the winery Quinta dos Capuchos integrates an older building (1916), which together with a part of the Quinta de Santa Thereza was purchased (in 1925) for a great-grandfather of the current owners. In the older building with mills 1933, 1962 and 2015 use a traditional registration (fermentation open tank with feet action), for the production of the top red wines. The grapes are harvested by hand (with carefully selected in the vineyard), transported in small containers and then transported to the winery, having to arrive intact and in perfect condition (grapes that could serve to eat in the cellar). We do wine touristic visits to the vineyards and cave, as well as some events like corporate events or lunch (minimum 20 persons). We are a small wine company that loves receiving its guests and clients and sharing knowledge and endogenous experiences. For our guests that stay at Casa Velha or Casa da Adega, we basic breakfast ingredient.

We did not have a reservation for a tour but only wished to do a small tasting and purchase some wine. We were met by a young woman who was unpleasant and unhelpful. She had no interest in introducing us to the wines of Quinta dos Capuchos, we have never been to a less inviting reception at a winery tasting or selling room anywhere in Europe, South America or the USA. To the management of Quinta dos Capuchos I say, introduce your staff to hospitality and your wine will be so much better enjoyed and received by the public. Such a beautiful tasting room wasted on poor hospitality and one will never know about the wine itself.

This was an amazingly jolly, friendly and informative tour of the vineyard (in winter) and the bottling process. We had lots of questions - all of which were answered enthusiastically and knowledgeably. The wine tasting was great fun and all the wines were delicious, each being a favourite to different members of our family group! The little bits of food we had with each wine were perfectly matched and we left feeling pleasantly full and a little bit merry! I would also like to say a huge thank you for the vegan food option that was made for one of our party - you made everyone feel welcome. Throughly recommend - and the wines we took away were perfectly matched to the celebratory meal we had for my mum's 80th birthday!

Even though we hadn’t made a reservation we were warmly welcomed and a tour was arranged for a party of three. After the tour we tasted some wonderful wines paired with traditional Portuguese snacks. Our guide was very friendly and had a lot of knowledge about wines. He was very enthusiastic and we enjoyed ourselves. The wines are reasonably priced. Definitely a must to visit if you are in the neighbourhood.

.y wife and I needed something to do on our rained out beach day, so we decided on going out for a wine tasting. We had our hotel call and set up the tasting. We were the only 2 in and got vip treatment. We were taken around the entire facility and shown their wine making process from start to finish including crushing, vats, cellars and the wine stomping vats. We would like to return one day and participate in the wine stomping.

We learned the difference between naturally made corks vs. the ones made from cork pieces and glue.

We tried 4 wines served with different appetizers. The wines were very well made, exhibited great structure, with wonderful noses and taste. All at very reasonable pricing.

Our host wanted to make the tasting a personal experience vs. other mass tastings in other more popular locations. He succeeded.

The tour was great with no pressure to buy anything.

We were there for about 2 1/2 hours. I do not know if that was normal.

I live in America, my mother's from England. My family, Brits and Americans, are in Portugal all week celebrating my birthday, each day,we have explored a new city. Today was Alcobaça, so we made plans to visit Quinta Dos Campuchos winery before exploring the town and monastery...good choice. It is a small vineyard, family operated for 100 years. None of us speak Portuguese, and not many people in the hills of Portugal speak English, so it was nice that the proprietor, Antonio, could speak English ! The wine selections for the tasting were unique, the food was amazing! Thanks for the hospitality! Gary

This was our second visit to this amazing family run Vineyard in the hills of Alcobaca. Jose, the Proprietor, is incredibly knowledgeable about the family wines, as it has been in their family for over 100 years. We visited last week during harvest time and were very impressed that they pick each grape by hand and actually have a manual pressing room... I plan to visit next year to stomp the grapes! We had the privilege of dining in the beautiful cellar room with a gorgeous chandelier overhead. Jose and his staff prepared a wonderful traditional Portuguese dinner accompanied by his amazing wine. It was a night I will never forget. This is the perfect place to visit whether you are just a couple of people or a large group. We have been to many Wineries around the world, but this old school beautiful place is our favorite!

What a super tour and tasting at this small, family run tour. There’s a great shop selling all the estate wines including a few other products like olive oil etc. The wines we tasted were really nice and were accompanied by small canapés.
