We walked the 4km from the ship to the Church, which of itself was splendid. The Church serves the old town and is magnificent. It is simple and obviously well loved. The wall frescoes are related to the area and there is a real sense of the place having been lived in.
For those preparing for the elk back there is also a very clean toilet in the Churchyard.

Flam is a town crowded with tourists sometimes so it’s enjoyable to do this walk (perhaps 1+ km) to take in more of the beautiful scenery (see photos), as well as see this interesting and historic church.

We have seen this church from the window of the Flam train. Interesting design. Black painted walls give special old spirit to the building. The church was built around 1660.

This tiny church is well worth seeing if you are in the area. Quite a long walk (2 miles) from Flam.

Like others we walked from Flam to Old Flam where the church is. It's about a 2 mile walk one way. It follows the river. The walk was very peaceful. No other walkers but a few cars on the road. The church is beautiful and the grave yard interesting. Lots of grave sites with the name FLAM and FLAAM.

Highly recommend

A lovely old Stave Church found in the old village of Flam, it is around a 1.5 mile walk from the port, but it is well worth the walk, it is so peaceful, and the views on the walk are awesome.

We visited the church as part of our circular walk from Brekkefossen Waterfalls. It is a lovely old wooden church and has a lot of character. It is in a lovely setting and has beautiful views of the valley. Easy walk back to Flam along the river.

We stopped here on our way down from riding our rented mountain bikes along the amazing old train road. The church is very welcoming and they do have signs talking about the history and connection to the town of Flam. The woodwork is beautiful. It is along the Flam River and has a lovely tranquil setting. There is also a cemetery on the grounds which is well kept and loved.

About 40 min walk, nice little cafe half way where you can get ice cream and tea and coffee, you can get road train if you don't fancy the walk

We enjoyed a nice walk from the waterfront up to the church, about 2k. You walk mainly on the road, but there is very little traffic to worry about.

You basically just follow the river up to the church.

We where not able to get in the church, but enjoyed sitting in the church yard taking in the sites and sounds
