Great way to see the stunning Cevennes scenery, from Anduz to St. Jean du Gard. Watch out for the soot, don't wear white!

Reading a few reviews after the event I guess we were not the only people with the same idea - drive to St Jean du Gard for a couple of nights, do a return journey on the Train a Vapeur and visit the area. The...More

We really enjoyed our trip on this steam train, which lasts about half an hour. The views of the vally of the Gardon du Mialet are excellent. We thought that the best views going from Anduze to St Jean du Gard are on the left...More

If you love trains, you'll love this experience. We took the 11h30 train, had lunch at St Jean du Gard and returned on the 13h30 - probably the most popular trains, so both very busy. It was a long enough trip to be interesting but...More

A last minute decision to head out on the steam train from Anduze worked out nicely! 2 adults and a child cost 43€ for the return trip but was worth the money For the great views of the countryside. Don't wear white, plenty of soot...More

This is absolutely a must do activity with young children. The steam train is an attraction by itself and offers great seating also for you children as the railings are high enough to prevent any accidents. The best part of the trip is from Anduze...More

A beautiful way to see the area in an old but very well maintained steam train. Beautiful view of the Cevennes hills and the rivers. Staff are very friendly and they will make a fuss of kiddies visiting the steam engine, are really good sports...More

We travelled from Anduze with the intention of stopping at the Bambouseraie, which is the only stop between there and Saint-Jean-de-Gard. This gave us 3-and-a-half hours to visit the Bambouseraie, hop back on the train, finish the journey and get back to Anduze. Both towns...More

We were staying near Anduze and wanted to do this trip. It is a great pity as you can not book a seat in advance so there is no guarantee that you are going to get on so get there early

We have rented an appartment in Caissargesfor 14 days, from july 21st. Here is what we were thinking of doing, in no particular order for now: - Nimes (Arenes, Maison Carrée, Jardins de la fontaine, tour de Magne) - Pont du Gard - Avignon - Aigues Mortes - Anduze (train a vapeur des Cevennes, Bambouseraie) - Uzes (Jardin medieval, musee du bonbon, tour Fenestrelle, Duché) - Montpellier (aquarium, serre amazonienne, tour des pins, cathedrales St-Pierre, halles castellane, vieux...More

I would think about adding Sommieres (Sat morning / Wednesday night markets), Pezenas (historic market town) and Le Baux ( touristy but historic village).
