Forget the church, go straight to the cemetery in the back. Some of the most beautiful gardens I have seen. Hard to believe it is actually a cemetery. Make sure you check it out, you won't want to miss it on a nice day.

The church was not open to go inside the Wed morning we were in Fredericia. The outside is rather plain, but behind the church is an incredibly beautiful cemetery. It looks like a formal garden, each tombstone plot is surrounded by bushes and flowers. We also passed another larger cemetery on the way to the train station with the same formal garden look, so this must be the way they do their cemeteries here, Just Beautiful

We attended Easter High Mass at Sct. Michaelis while visiting on the Viking Sky 21 April. Pastor Kristoffer welcomed us in English and we received headsets to hear his sermon in English. Although celebrated in Danish there are Flat-Panel displays which enable you to worship/sing hymns. The faith community was so welcoming and joyous. God bless Pastor Kristoffer and his flock!

This church is well worth a visit. Simple in style but truly beautiful inside. A peaceful spot to sit and contemplate after looking around the interior where you will find a lovely pipe organ & some private seating areas.

We visited the Michaelis Church in Fredericia whilst visiting the town during a day stop over. We had used a local walking tour but with a bit of pre planning and investigation, the visitor could quite easily conduct themselves around the town themselves.
The church is quite plain both inside and outside when compared to other churches either in the United Kingdom or mainland Europe, however, it should be borne in mind that Lutheran churches do dispense with the type of decoration and embellishment typically associated with Catholic or other religious houses.
The interior of the church then is quite functional and minimalist in appearance especially with the predominant white colour but this does not mean that it is less pleasing to the eye. Indeed the interior looks quite modern and welcoming with its orderly rows of white pews, absence of clutter and hanging light fittings all focused on the altar area. To the left are two levels of what appears to be galleried seating and at the back of the church on the upstairs level is the organ.
If you like visiting churches or are even curious, it is worth dropping in.
Outside the spacious churchyard is very tidy and almost like a well-kept garden, with no neglected burials that we could see. The raked gravel, bushes and brick pathways would be the envy of many a public space or park.

This is a church with a garden-like cemetery. The church is well maintained, but rather plain both the outside and the inside. There is nothing to impress the visitors. The cemetery, on the other hand, is quite remarkable. It is well designed and well kept. Overall, I do not think the place is intended to be an attraction for tourists. Unless one is very interested in cemetery design, it is ok to give it a miss.

At first glance, this does not look anything like a typical cemetery that an American might imagine. But the beautiful granite boulders are headstones and neatly manicured hedgerows divide burial plots from one another. Flowers and shrubs bloomed in fantastic riots of color. One would be hard-pressed to find a weed growing anywhere on the grounds. We happened upon a groundskeeper who was smiling, of course, and he told us how his work brought him happiness. With all respect to the families whose loved ones rest here, this is a remarkable place that should be visited by anyone who loves beauty and peace.
