Interesting, but don't drink the water
Jul 2020 • Family
Historically interesting and nice architecture, however after drinking the water, I completely understand that Peter the Great, very quickly after arriving and receiving treatment, declared himself cured. I would want to stop drinking the water a.s.a.p. too, it's disgusting. In the words of my four-year-old daughter: "iew, ikki-bah, niet goed!"

Good to have a quick impression about the origin and history of Spa
Nov 2017 • Friends
perfect to have a quick look (10 minutes) at the very starting point (the well which Peter the Great used) of the history of the town and water treatments

The Spring of Peter the Great
May 2017 • Friends
a great place to visit to know more about Spa bottle water. the building that dates back to 1880 is also used as tourist office. the latest appearance of building is the result of renovation in 2012. with just 1 EUR fee, it is worth of visit. this spring is one of the most plentiful and carbonated source in the town of Spa, full of mineral salts and rich in iron, that has flow-rate of 21,000 liters per day. when I tried the water, yes I really felt the strong element of salty and iron.

it is said that there are 96 famous people with chronological disorder who came to take water for so called Spa Therapy (Crenotherapy). Aside from Peter the Great, to mention few: Marie-Henriette, Emperor Joseph II of Austria, Wellington, John Cockerill, Victor Hugo, Offenbach, and Montaigne.

the tourist officer was also very kind to explained this spring, including other interesting locations to visit around Spa.

Surprising exhibitions
Jul 2016 • Friends
Pouhon Pierre le Grand is a relatively small space where surprising exhibitions are held. The exhibition of Andy Warhol, known for his Campbell soup cans, was worth the visit. Based on the exhibition, a good overview of Warhol's work could be obtained. The space is well lighted, and the place is easily accessible, because it is located in the VVV of Spa (in the center of the city).

Highly recommended, also because the place mostly is not very crowded.

Beautiful building
Aug 2016 • Couples
Beautiful building housing a tourist information office and what is believed to be the first place that the famous Spa water was collected.
Well worth a visit if in the area, only 1Euro to enter!

not to be missed when visiting Spa
Aug 2016 • Family
1Euro... that is the entry-fee for seeing the famous Spa source, tasting the water straight from the source, reading about it's history in a nice brochure while leaning on the 1717 stone pedestal, while admiring the beautiful architecture of the building.
The water is direct from the source and still includes sulfur, iron and magnesium. So yes, it smells like rotten eggs on a fishmarket. But it tastes good. Leave your thoughts and inspiration in the guest-book.
Entry is via the tourist information in the center of Spa, at walking distance of the Casino and most everything else. For a few Euro's more, you can enter the Miro and/or Andy Warhol exhibit. Rain or no rain, totally worth it.

Drank the water.

Thoroughly recommended if you are in Spa. €1 each to go through to the source. There are plastic cups provided so you can try a drink of it. It does smell very sulphurous but, as it cured an empower 300 years ago, it's got to be worth a try.
There are toilets here too.

Historic mineral water source
Dec 2015 • Friends
The only source located in the city center. Interesting to learn about the history of taking the "water cure" and to taste the real thing!
