One of the most impressive remains of feudalism in Europe and the oldest feudal vestige in Belgium. Its origins go back to the 8th century. It is a key account for the medieval architecture and is famous for the 1st crusade, lead by Godfrey of Bouillon. The Castle was used for military purposes until 1830. From the top of the main tower, you can admire a wonderful view on the Semois river and its meanders. Included in the visit : falconry show and permanent didactic exhibition. Also included : permanent exhibition "Scriptura", the history of writing from the Middel Ages until the XXst century.

I visited many medieval castles but this one is really special. The setting is great, the audio guide is very well produced and the birds of prey show is very amusing despite the fact that I couldn't understand a word -it was in Flemish and...More

In comparison to 2 years ago the castle is better maintained. It offers a good view of the city. The visit takes about 1 1/2 hour

Get the guided microphone tour. Go to the Archeoscope first. Bird show as pretty entertaining though busloads of kids detracted from the dignity and grace of the place. But what are you going to do?

It is advisable to take an audio guide. It really give some extra info about the tour in the Castle. We also paid for the museum, but did't go in the end because the tour in the castle is already enough.

This is a must-do in Bouillon. It is advisable to take an audio guide, we saw a lot of tourists who didn't have it and they were just walking around without any guidance.

Wow. What a castle. In almost original condition. You can walk through every turret, staircase, torture chamber, see everything as.it was. Really fantastic. The birds of prey show was another surprise. Included in price, and better than others I have seen. Many different birds, showcasing...More

This is a full-sized, perfectly maintained, medieval castle, not mere ruins. And we're talking epic knight battle castle, not Cinderella's. Great visit for adventurers. We opted for the guide map, but there are also an audio guide and guided tour options. There is a suggested...More

Superb stay at this chateau. Lots to see in this large chateau, including magnificient views over the landscape and the birds of prey show. Our kids (5+2) loved climbing up and going down all these stairs, dark sideways etc.

Yes, it is worth the stop. Quaint little village. and you can walk around parts of the castle on the outside. The town looks like a postcard. We were also just looking for a place to stop and I was glad we stopped.
