About Riedel Glas
TO GIVE SOMEONE THE MOST SPECIAL GIFT THAT TYROL HAS TO OFFER, THERE IS ONLY ONE SOURCE: THE RIEDEL FACTORY IN KUFSTEIN! From such a short distance off the highway, a traveler and wine connoisseur can truly experience the unique world of wine glass production at the Riedel factory. The glass factory allows an inside look at the glass making process and how the glassware is diligently mouth blown and hand made. To experience the different senses, Riedel offers “Sinnfonie”, an adventure of sensual perception. Visitors also have the opportunity to buy the world’s famous grape varietal specific stemware and prestigious decanters directly from Riedel at the onsite 300 qm shop. Every customer will get their own individual consultation where our experts will highlight the Riedel glass philosophy and answer the important question of, ”Which is the right glass for my wine?” Seeing, hearing, smelling, feeling, tasting. Come and see how our glassmakers create a SINNFONIE from the versatile material of glass. There has been no change in the composition of glass for over 4000 years. It still contains the naturally occurring basic materials of quartz, lime and alkalis which are heated up to a temperature of 1000 degree celsius to make them liquid and malleable. “Only” 2000 years have passed since the glass blowpipe was used in ancient Rome for the first time. This made it possible to blow glass into different shapes. At our factory in Kufstein our glassblowers still use this ancient mouth-blowing method with great care and precision to create the world-famous handcrafted Riedel glasses. Claus J. Riedel was the first person in the long history of the glass to design its shape according to the character of the wine. He is thus the inventor of the functional wineglass. A positive approach to life is linked to pleasure and enjoyment. Enjoyment is conveyed by our senses, and this is the theme of our multimedia show entitled SINNFONIE.Why not share our enjoyment in our SINNFONIE? Let‘s set off together on a journey through the world of glass and the senses. We are looking forward to your visit. Welcome to Riedel!

As wine-lover and sommelier, we planned to visit Riedel longer time ago and it was more than worth it! You can see how those outstanding glases are made and in the shop, you have an opportunity to test it. Yes, we spent some money, but I would say we invested it! That is The Place!

This is the birthplace of Riedel Glass, as we know it. Up until a few years ago this is where the famous wine glasses and other beautiful glass creations were made, mostly by hand. Riedel then bought a large glass manufacturer in Germany, where most of the products are made now. They still produce some handmade glass in Kufstein, but I think it is mostly for show at the factory tours. They also have a modern showroom, where you can buy most of their range of products. You can also pick up seconds (mostly indistinguishable from first grade to the uninitiated). The factory tour is interesting, and worth doing of you are interested in the almost extinct craft of glass blowing, cutting etc. Also attached is a beautiful wine store, where you can buy some very exclusive and expensive wines from a over the world.
