Went there (family if 5, ages 6, 10 and 13 ) before Velika Planina. Planned to stay there for an hour, ended up spending 3 hours there and could have stayed more.
The children especially loved the playground with omegas, trampolines and other facilities.
There is also a nice dinosaurs display.

Spring (especially the month of April) is surely the best time to visit Arboretum Volčji Potok, one of the best botanical gardens and parks in the world. At that time there are large colourful tulip fields (more than 2 million tulip samples, one for each Slovenian, from more than 350 different species), tulip forest, narcissus (daffodil) fields, rock garden, trees are blooming with their coloured blossoms, French and English Park revive and you can take a look at exhibitions of cacti, orchids and fairytale characters (especially from Slovenian and Grimm fairytales). At the time of the Slovenian spring holidays (this year it is from 27th April to 2nd May), there are also more exhibitions of cottage-industry and horticultural equipment. In the Arboretum you can see many different plant and tree species, so visiting it is surely a must-do for all nature and horticulture lovers, as well as for biologists, especially botanists.

I must also admit that this place is very nice place for relaxation on a warm sunny day, it is child-friendly with many playgrounds and large movable sculptures of dinosaurs, whales and even mammoth. You can enjoy desserts in the park's coffeehouse, sit on a bench with a brook or forest view and cool yourself around some fountains or with a cup of ice cream. In other words, there is much to do and you will surely enjoy your visit there.

We loved the butterfly house (small but full of colorful butterflies), the cactus and orchid displays (quite small too), just strolling around the beautiful lawns and flowers, and even the dinosaur exhibit (though not related the arboretum aspect) and the playground. A very relaxing visit.

We visited the arboretum on an August afternoon during the Dahlia exhibit. The Dahlias were breathtaking. We also enjoyed the tropical butterfly and orchid exhibits. The French garden is delightful and the entire place has a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. Highly recommended!

I've been visiting this park for 20 years, and I love it every time. I could spend all my days here. It's located 20 minutes outside of Ljubljana, and perfect for all kinds of travelers, solo, families, elderly,... There are dinosaurs for children and lovely views for everyone else. It is very peaceful. I love coming back here!

Fantastic place to spend a day, far away from urban rush.
You can find the park, the forest, the lake and flower garden in the single place.
I would come here every day if I had a chance, just to recharge my "batteries".

Place for a full day visit. Wonderful garden. Many sculptures, layouts, sculpture products, energy points. It provides long walks in nature. Also suitable for families with small children. The place you can visit many times a year and will always be a lot new for the sight. I recommend viewing every Slovenian and tourist. I'll see Park more than once.

Very nice park but at the time of our visit there were a lot of people for the easter holiday. The big probelm is they dont have a lot of options for the toilets. If you are with a childerden or not is not very pleasant situation. I was looking for some wc sign but i didnt find it. I recomed to put some plastic (dixy) toilets for the next massive visit. The entrance is not for free!!.. that day the park earned a lot of money from all the visitors!!!.. and for that money i would expect at last toilets (dixy wc) on the parking, entrance and some other places, around the children playground and so on... I was very very disapointed!!!

Volčji Potok has something new each year. Spring exhibition has fields of tulips, really nice in nature with mountains behind. Second part with roses is waiting for summer time. Third area is central, French park. It is better than years ago with new fountain and cut edges. Eastern part has more wooden parts, a bee-house, little lake and way to the children’s heaven, playground and area with plastic dinos. Entrance fee is not low but for three to four hours of joy it is OK. For older visitors they have little train and for thirsty people some simple places with refreshments. It is not Keukenhof but with less visitor and perfect mountains a t the back it is really good for families with young children and even people with dogs. Parking is free – but come early (on Saturday or Sunday).

Sad so say that as a native I was here for the first time today. What a perfect place to chill out. Hadn't felt more relaxed in ages. Spent almost four hours there. A lot to see. Orchids exhibition, Cactus exhibition, young ducklings and much much more. And the coffee is really good. Just a perfect place for a day out. I am actually considering buying an annual ticket. And I don't even like flowers that much (they don't like me either)! You have to go there to understand what I am talking about. And you will understand. I promise.
