We got admission to this small museum with tickets for the Sunday traditional dance ceremony, the museum consists of local paintings, explainations and examples of the local traditional dress. Also an explaination of how silk is made and a display of real silk worms (my daughters favourite part - I should say she's 30 going on 5!). There were some stalls selling local examples of embroidery and clothing, I was a bit put off as nothing had prices on, but we did buy a few local souvenirs from here as we felt we were helping the local economy. We paid an extreemely reasonable E20 each, which included the bus (no 99 from Cavtat) pick up from our hotel and return journey, buy tickets on the bus, entrance to the village, museum, dance display and a free drink, which we drank to the sound of the local musicans. I can't fault this, we did it on the last day of our holiday and it was a highlight! It was lovely to see a community working together to provide such an amazing and enjoyable spectacle for tourists to be a part of!

Stopped in here before the folklore show. It was a small but interesting museum. We learnt a little about the culture. It was free entry with the ticket for the folklore show. Nice to wonder around, but it didn’t take too long as it is quite small.

Wonderful Sunday morning entertainment. Great folk dancers. Plenty of seating and shade and lovely local crafts. The museum was small but informative.

This museum itself is quite nice: it shows the history of the silk industry in the area. It's small and simple, but gives you quite a bit of information.

But there's something even better: the Cilipi Folklore show, which takes place every Sunday morning from the start of April till the end of October. There's fantastic local music and dancing, welcome drink is included, and so is entry to this museum.

Direct price is just €8; agencies charge 5 to 6 times more! See my other review on Cilipi Folklore for directions, parking etc.

The last time I was in this building, in June 1993, I was clearing the rubble from the ground floor.
Now rebuilt and turned into a museum, there is a wealth of information for the visitor. There are a couple of cafe's in the square and all this can be combined with the folk lore dancing and church service on a Sunday. Beautiful little village.

This is a small museum in the lovely town of Cilipi. Great display of traditional clothing with it’s detailed embroidery. The colours of the chest pieces all have a meaning - widow etc. it gave me a real sense of what it was like to be part of Croatian village life. Well worth a visit!

We visited Cilipi on Sunday morning taking the local 9am bus from Cavtat. Our main reason for the trip was to see the folklore dancing show but when we paid for our ticket(50kn) it also included this museum and a welcome drink. The museum was very interesting with live silkworms and some info about how they make the silk and how the use it in their clothing, a nice surprise. The village itself was small and sweet with some crafts on display and some local musicians. The dance show itself was around 45 mins and was very entertaining.

Worth it for a nice morning out.

In ÄŚilipi in the same square as St Nicholas Church the homeland house of Konavle houses a museum that bears rich ethnographic source material from the entire region of Konavle, and is presented in an authentic Konavle stone house. That is needlework, costums and some art pieces. There is a small entrance fee or can be combined with the traditional folklore dancing and music ticket that happens on Sundays. On Sundays the whole square can be busy and parking is offered in the playground on the opposite side of the D8 road in Cilipi. Use St Nicholas church as the landmark as it is visable from the road on the right as you head south.

Get yourself here by bus or taxi and pay on entry. You certainly wont need a Guide. It is quaint little museum with cations in English, but the star is the folk show. Usually outdoors, we enjoyed just as much indoors.

You cant get in for free as all the village roads are 'manned', but you o get a small welcome drink and there is also a small local market.

My wife and I visited on a weekday, not knowing about the Sunday folk festivals that other reviewers mention.
Maybe that was the reason we were the only people there at the time, although there might be more of the Cavtat tourist information centre stopped telling people that it closes at 1pm : it doesn't!
The displays of textiles and costumes upstairs were colourful, the museum lady came up and told us further information without being intrusive.
Although we don't normally watch the video presentations at museums, I'm glad that we did here ; a short film showed an old way of life that probably endured here later than elsewhere.
