Lovely 1h walk
Jun 2021 • Couples
Really nice, easy walk along Moville seafront towards Greencastle. Nice bracing breeze off Lough Foyle. Lovely views and little inlets/coves with beaches. Not too busy.
I saw other reports about dog 💩 being a problem. Ok, there was some, but too bad. Worse at Inch Wildfowl Reserve.
A lovely place.

Dog poo payh
Apr 2020 • Family
It is such a shame that all the dog poo runs this beautiful amenity. Its disgraceful....each morning dog s##t on the grass on the path...but the owners who go to the trouble of picking it up putting in a bag but somehow cant be bothered to take it to bin are prob he worst. It's a 5 star place but you dog owners have it ruined.

Worth doing
Sep 2020
This is a fabulous walk. Is just under 4 km each way and takes approx 1 hour each way at a relaxed but steady pace. We did it on a sunny day and felt as if we were walking beside one of the Italian Lakes!! Lots of places to sit and enjoy the wonderful scenery, and there is the odd shelter too should the rain come on. People we met were all very friendly, and we even came across a man, with his easel, doing a watercolour painting of the scenery. The path is mostly flat and even, however, the last section at the Greencastle end is partly over sand, undergrowth and rocks - we did it in trainers but I would advise proper walking shoes (don't need boots). Definitely recommend.

A great shore path walk

We walked this path on two different days and it was popular. There are plenty of seats along the way, particularly at the Moville end. The total walk is about 3km from the Moville end with a small car park at 2.2km and finishing at a small beach. A really pleasant walk with beautiful views across the Foyle lough.

Wonderful walk along the shore path towards Greencastle. So many families and dogs. Great skimming stones if that’s your thing. Amazing views and a really lovely atmosphere. Great park with toilets at the start of the walk too

beautiful walk along shoreline from Moville towards Greencastle. Level path but no barried between path and rocks/cliff/sea so be careful with young children.

Gorgeous scenic walk along the shoreline from Moville to Greencastle. The walk finishes just before entering Greencastle so you need to go out on the main road to continue into Greencastle.

Stunning views!

Luckily for me, I took this walk on Friday 27 March 2020, just before the most recent social restrictions. If you can’t get there until after the restrictions are lifted, make sure to include it in your “places to visit” as soon as possible.
It’s a very popular walk at any time of year, with some stunning views along the coastline, and across Lough Foyle to county Derry. There are places to stop and sit and enjoy the scenery. There are beaches, some sandy, some rocky, with plenty of opportunities for individuals, families and people with pets to enjoy the lovely fresh air and relax and enjoy nature at its best.
It’s very clean and litter free. Let’s keep it that way!
Some of the photos are from earlier visits.
