As the heading says ... only if you know the way! It is a really good walk and a great way to clear the head after the night before!

Marvellous walk along sea shore between Moville and Greencastle. Had dogs with us. Great walk for them too. Took us about one and a half hours and then another one and a half to walk back. A fairly easy walk with only a few little inclines along the way. On a beautiful day it's a great way to spend time.

The paved pathway, mostly level throughout is suitable for a walk rain or shine, for all walkers. Great views over the lough.

This is one of the nicest walks you can do in a sunny day. There is a lovely view of the coastline on the other side of the Foyle and is very relaxing no matter how many times you do it.

Lovely walk along the shore of Lough Foyle. We walked from Moville to Greencastle and back on a lovely sunny day and it was very enjoyable.

Only complaint I have is that you can’t really follow it all the way to Greencastle.
Other than that, well worth it.

Really nice, easy walk along Moville seafront towards Greencastle. Nice bracing breeze off Lough Foyle. Lovely views and little inlets/coves with beaches. Not too busy.
I saw other reports about dog 💩 being a problem. Ok, there was some, but too bad. Worse at Inch Wildfowl Reserve.
A lovely place.

It is such a shame that all the dog poo runs this beautiful amenity. Its disgraceful....each morning dog s##t on the grass on the path...but the owners who go to the trouble of picking it up putting in a bag but somehow cant be bothered to take it to bin are prob he worst. It's a 5 star place but you dog owners have it ruined.

This is a fabulous walk. Is just under 4 km each way and takes approx 1 hour each way at a relaxed but steady pace. We did it on a sunny day and felt as if we were walking beside one of the Italian Lakes!! Lots of places to sit and enjoy the wonderful scenery, and there is the odd shelter too should the rain come on. People we met were all very friendly, and we even came across a man, with his easel, doing a watercolour painting of the scenery. The path is mostly flat and even, however, the last section at the Greencastle end is partly over sand, undergrowth and rocks - we did it in trainers but I would advise proper walking shoes (don't need boots). Definitely recommend.

Where is the closest access point from Greencastle of I want to do the walk in the opposite direction? (ie Greencastle to moville and back)

We were in Moville and just walked to the beach which was a minutes walk from the main street. The path was in front of us and wound its way round the shore to Greencastle. I would imagine it's the same coming from Greencastle to Moville.

Where does this walk start? Is it easy to find? Suitable for a buggy? Thank you.

I think the answers already given are accurate. If you start in Moville (go towards water and take left) then you could walk with a buggy for about 2km. You could simply walk until it would get too difficult for the buggy and then turn back. It's nice to do the walk both ways. Cement or tarmac so easy for using a buggy. Enjoy - it's a lovely walk.

Would you say the path is wheelchair accessible?
Thank you

There is no problem with a wheelchair, but caution should be taken when decending from Moville Town, as there is a decline, due care and attention required. If you have another person with you, then no problem at all. The path is wide enough to proceed as far along the path to Lafferty's lane/ shore walk (walk down to the shore from upper main public road). I would not advise going towards Greencastle as the walkway involves crossing beach fronts or stony path between Lafferty's Lane / shore walk to Greencastle. However it is a lovely 2km route from Moville to Lafferty's lane, with carparking space at the bottom of Lafferty's Lane/ shore walk. Coming back up from the Shore walk in a manual wheelchair will require strenght of arms, but if the wheelchair is motorised or you have someone to help push, no problem. Enjoy!!

Hi I am particularly interested in seeing the "book cupboard" on this walk I see from other people's posts that it is near the start of the walk and near a park I think ? but is that walking from moville to greencastle or from greencastle towards moville?
Thank you in advance!
