Here’s the thing... this pub only opens at 8.30 pm. Guinness is perfect and Michael is the perfect host full of great stories. Please get here!

We visited Michael John's (100 of us) on a very wet day, between a family wedding and the sit down dinner in the evening. We couldn't be more grateful for their hospitality and kindness. They facilitated our catering, provided tea, coffee, warmth, not to mention great pints. They coped with the enormous influx with ease and cheerfulness. Everyone loved the time they spent there. It was hard to persuade people to move on for dinner!! It's a gorgeous pub in a spectacular setting. They give a lovely welcome and it's a relaxing and beautiful place to enjoy a great pint.

The bast way to find this place is to drive straight past Shroove lighthouse, stay on that road, and it loops back past the Drunken Duck, with MJ's on the left, a little further on. However, it's not easy getting a drink in Shroove, and it only has two bars, with one closed altogether [Drunken Duck] and MJ's only open at night. It's in a great location, with great views over the Foyle, but sure thats no good when it's closed.
