beautiful forest rest houses
Nov 2018 • Couples
we stayed at the west bank forest rest house which was basic and wonderful. Mr Tagi took good care of us and showed us around the entire place. he also arranged for a car and guide for us to go into the forest. so we went to the other two forest rest houses too. they were set in amazing places with the most gorgeous views. Phew! what an experience pakke was. One day was obviously not enough. but we didnt know we would have so much to do there.

beautiful birds and trees
Nov 2018 • Couples
Pakke is tucked away... not many people visiting but many many birds and animals to leave you awestruck. Hornbills, elephants, migratory birds, and ofcourse the tiger.
This place is a little off the grid but all the better, coz there are not many people and you get all the attention and resources. we had great help from the forest guard and the government officials of the forest department who took us everywhere and arranged many things for us.
must must go if you get a chance and if you're a wildlife and peace lover

Very remote but guides are great
Mar 2018 • Couples
Stayed at Pakke Jungle Camp for 2 nights and enjoyed guided walks in the area. Saw mainly birds and butterflies but I guess when you are walking you don't really want to come across wild eles or tigers!

Lovely to experience the jungle and did get a very brief glimpse of the black panther crossing track in front of us so who knows what else was hiding in the undergrowth just feet from us?

Sadly we couldn't get to the core area as we didn't have a 4 wheel drive and got stuck in the clay soil but getting out of that was an adventure in itself - especially when guide told us there was a bull elephant nearby who had killed 2 people recently!

Not sure I would go back as I am more in to mammal watching than birds and butterflies but did enjoy the experience. But the guides were very knowledgeable and friendly so well done to them.

Up close with nature
Apr 2017 • Couples
I am an avid lover of wildlife and sanctuary being a travel agent whenever I get a chance visit them. Seldom have I found one where I was happy with guides ways of introducing us with wildlife or flora and fauna of the area. This being said in Pakke I finally met the type of guides one would love to have with them during there trek. Starting from the Information Centre in the Forest Range office which kind of acts as an acclimatisation for what you might encounter during your trek or rather you should look for during the trek in the jungle to the persons who protected and acted as our guide during the trek it was awesome. We enjoyed every bit of the trek it was fun, informative and above all how it should be.

A Day with Royal Bengal Tigers
Apr 2016 • Friends
Pakhui is a Wildlife Sanctuary is in the district of East Kameng in Arunachal Pradesh. It has an area of over 860 square kilometres and is bordered by the Kameng River and Pakke River, which are important sources of water for the animals and the irrigation of the vegetation. The Pakhui reserve is neighbour to the Nameri Tiger reserve in Assam, making this area a true treasure trove in terms of these spectacular animals.
The Tiger Reserve was declared by and is managed under the Project Tiger initiative that is administered by the Government of India for the protection and preservation of Royal Bengal Tigers. These animals have suffered major depletions of their population numbers as a result of extensive poaching and a loss of habitat due to human encroachment.

Its a must visit for all forest and nature lovers. The virginity of the forest will be in your mind after your return for a long long time. Enjoy the greatness of seven sisters of Indian Subcontinent. Mother jungle bless us all.

Walk through a forest...
Dec 2015 • Friends
There is something special about walking through a forest. In Pakke, the trees are tall and the cover dense enough to ensure the forest floor stays dark, wet and cool through the year. The virgin core forest and the adjoining reserve forests are the perfect place to watch the circle of life at work and see how humans interact with the forest.

I walked through a part of Pakke in December and came away with scratches, bruises and stories that live on in memory. Give it 3 days and 3 nights at the least.

Slow down and walk it to believe it.

Wild and wonderful Pakke
May 2015 • Solo
I visited Pakke at the beginning of May, the so-called off season but it was still a wonderful experience.

Stayed at the Khari Forest Rest House in the interior of the forest. The sounds of the jungle there especially after it goes dark made for a very special experience.

The jungle is extremely well protected by a knowledgeable and helpful staff. Tigers, leopards, dhole, elephants, bears, fishing cats, sambar, barking deer, wild boars, 4 species of hornbills, dozens of other beautiful bird species all thrive here. The jungle, dense and impenetrable, is a treat to hike through.

Go if you want to experience a true jungle!
