A normal temple in terracota temple town

This is a modern temple with concrete structure although grown popular due to the deity inside and proximity to the famous cannon Dolmadol. Worth a visit.

Recently renovated temple

While in Bishnupur, one is expected to visit typical terracotta old temples. But this one is not that type and people visit for religious purpose only. May not have any attraction from architectural point.

Deeply Divine!
Mar 2018
One of the oldest temples and only few in India which depicts the violent form of Goddess Kali. Chhinamasta literally means 'headless'. You will also find the famous Bishnupur terracota temples, the artisan handicrafts called Dokra, and the cannon!

Active temple
Mar 2017 • Couples
This is a relatively newer temple (hence not a Terracotta one) where the presiding Devi is still worshipped.

Located near the Canon, lot of shops line the way to the temple.

Premises are clean and maintenance is good. Shoes are to be left outside the gate. Priests do not haggle after the devotees.

Maa Chinnamasta Temple
Jan 2017 • Family
Visited during January 2017.
A popular tourist place in Bishnupur, accessible by rickshaw from railway station, situated next to Dalmadol Kaman.
Chinnamasta means beheaded...that this idol of Goddess is without her head in place...an avatar!

Maa Chinnamasta
Jan 2017 • Family
While I was in Bishnupur town of Bankura, with my family at the 1st weekend of this year,we went on a tour of the temples of the famous town. We found this relatively new temple where pujas are regularly held and is a tourist place in itself. I am surprised,it is yet to be mentioned even on Trip Advisor.

It is located on Chinnamasta road at Dalmadal para part of Bishnupur town and very near to the famous Dal Madal cannon.

You have to remove your shoes to enter the temple premises. It is lined by several shops selling stuff to pay respect to the holy mother. It is a temple of an incarnation of Goddess Kali, called Maa Chinnamasta.

Nice surroundings and relatively clean interiors is a welcome change. Pay your respect and move on to see lot of other things to see in the town.

Photography is strictly prohibited inside and I could take few pictures from outside only. This place of worship is very popular with locals as well as tourists.
