Desert Odyssey: A Journey Along the Road to Heaven in Kutch
While the Great Rann of Kutch is a salt desert and is recorded as one of the largest salt deserts in the world, there is also a road to heaven in this region which is a long national highway from Ghaduli to Santalpur. Out of which 30 kilometres pass through the white desert. The road is from Dholavira to Dhordo Rann of Kutch. In 2021, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage. "Road to Heaven" is a captivating journey through the vibrant landscapes and diverse cultures of Gujarat, India. This 30 km long road beautifully captures the essence of the Rann of Kutch, shimmering on both sides, offering picturesque views of crystal-clear waters, gleaming salt beds, and boundless blue skies. “Experience a heavenly drive on the Dholavira Highway, famously known as “The Road to the Heaven”

    Heaven indeed
The views are amazing and cannot be described in words. I took a cab from Ahmedabad to Tent city via road to heaven and spent the entire day on road(close to 10 hrs). Hence best would be to plan a visit from tent city/Kutch(may need 4hrs) or while checking out from tent city if you are going to Ahmedabad. Also there are no good resturants once you pass Radhanpur, the next good resturants is at the start of Road To Heaven.

Must know things about "Road to Heaven Kutch"
This road nestles between Dholavira and Khavda. It's become famous as the "Road To Heaven" on social media. Situated in Kutch, Gujarat, this road was built to connect Khavda and Dholavira, making it accessible for the G20 summit. Visiting the Road to Heaven is such a beautiful experience, but not in all seasons. Kutch's temperature normally stays high, between 25 to 38 degrees Celsius. In winter, it drops to around 8 to 18 degrees Celsius, making it the best time to visit these desert-like places.

We were on a tour to Western Gujarat and decided to travel from Dholavira to Dhordo via this newly laid unnamed road, which had been freshly made for delegates of G20 summit. When we travelled, it was not showing even on Google Maps but the overall experience was simply heavenly. It crosses through marshy salt lake. Definitely worth a visit but must start with full fuel tank as there is nothing for 80-90 kms!!!

The name ROAD TO HEAVEN itself resembles that the views of this road will be like heaven.

The road connects from khavda to dholaveera in between you can have the view of road with both side water and also please don’t be in confusion that this is sea or lake its just a 2 foot salt water but the view will remind you of dhanushkodi the preferable visiting time should be in early morning sunrise or at evening sunset so you can enjoy the view with sunrise/set and also to get there from gandhidham there are two ways one from rapar & one from bhuj to khavda but bhuj to khavda is closest as you visit this road first before dholaveera village & on rapar road the village comes first i mean its really amazing you should must visit this place located in kutch, gujarat

This is a newly constructed road connecting Dholavira, a town on the khadir island with the mainland of khavda. This road cuts across the rann of kutch and the views are mesmerising. Sunsets and sunrise is the best time to visit this location.
30kms of tarred road with varied vistas all around.
This is a must visit destination for bikers and travellers.
Do not miss this location
