In the hinterland of the village of Castel di Tora, immersed in the woods, you can see this waterfall, easily reachable with a pedestrian path suitable for everyone, with due attention. Given that, like all waterfalls, the effect depends on the quantity of water that descends into the valley, which in turn is determined by the meteorological trend (the best time to visit the waterfalls is usually late spring - we were there at end of April - but a lot depends on the rains that fell in the days preceding the visit; for the alpine ones summer is also good for the melting of the snow at high altitude), it is not a copious waterfall, as the flow rate is modest of the watercourse that forms it (essentially a ditch/stream) but the main drop (the one further upstream) is of considerable height (about 12 metres) and the surrounding context, both for the rocks and the vegetation, is of absolute interest; a small bridge in front of the waterfall makes it easier to see. Immediately downstream of the main waterfall there are other waterfalls.
The path (E13) that leads to the waterfall starts on the right of via Rio, about 30 meters after the crossroads that leads to the La Posta farmhouse on the left; just before this last crossroads, an open space on the left allows you to park two/three cars. Alternatively, you must leave your car downstream, in the large car park near the Carabinieri station, from which you must then take via delle Crete and then turn left after approximately 60 metres, following the road which then, after 230 metres, near a deviation on the left to be ignored, it becomes via Rio: the latter, to be followed for 500 metres, is steeply sloped and for us, who had parked in the aforementioned car park, it represented the hardest part of the itinerary. As for the path, traveling along it does not present any particular problems, but keep in mind that, except for the final part where it enters the woods, it is a sunny route. After passing a picnic spot, the path begins to descend and after crossing a small bridge it forks: on the left it proceeds on level ground, while on the right it descends with steps carved into the rock and a wooden fence as a support: you must take this the last one that goes down on the right. The only point of the path that could show some difficulty is the final stretch that goes up from the waterfalls to the main jump: here two consecutive steps have disappeared and in their place there is a wet and slippery limestone rock (with a little attention the obstacle can be easily overcome). The duration of the trail obviously depends on the pace, but I would say to estimate 20/25 minutes.

Consigliate.

Salve a tutti.

This place near Castel di Tora deserves your attention. After a 20 minute walk after parking your car along a wall near the sign indicating the waterfalls, you will find a cool and truly beautiful place. I dipped my feet in the freezing water and it was really pleasant. Fortunately, when I was there, no one was there, but as soon as I returned to the dirt road near the bench before accessing the waterfalls, a lot of people arrived! I think that to see them alone you have to go there in the morning before 10am. And I was there on a Monday, I think it's much busier at the weekend at least in August. Anyway, have a good visit to this beautiful corner of our beautiful province. Good refreshment to you people of TripAdvisor.
