Mandar Parvat, also known as Mandar Hill is a small mountain situated in Banka district under Bhagalpur division of state of Bihar. Mandar hill is extremely sacred in the Hindu Mythology. The Skanda Purana records the history of the famous Amrit Manthan ( the churning of the ocean ).

Situated near to Bhagalpur in Bihar this place has lots to offer if you're a nature lover. Mythologically important to Hindus as well as Jains. Connected by Train and Road from Bhagalpur (Bihar) and Dumka (Jharakhand)
Not that high if you love to climb it will be an easy task as there is stairs available on the path. ropeway construction is also going on.
for stay - Hotel Gokul Vihar and few Dharmashala is in Bounsi (nearest kasba)

Mandar Parvat (Hill). A place to visit
Dec 2015 • Family
Mandar Parvat (Hill) is roughly 700 feet high. It is situated about 30 miles south of the Bhagalpur town in Bihar.Amrit Manthana or Samudra manthan which suggests that the hill was used by the gods to churn the ocean to procure amrit. The serpent, Basukinaga offered to serve as the rope and has left behind an impression of the coil on the granite hill. The hill is equally revered by the Jains who believe that their 12th Tirthankara attained nirvana here on the summit of the hill.

Important but not taken on priority by govt.
Jan 2016 • Solo
The place is near Baunsi, district banka un Bihar. Nearest Big town is Bhagalpur. You may reach there via deoghar or Dumka or Godda too which are also district towns of Jharkhan state. Mandar hill is Manadr parwat which is said to be used as "Mathni" when Saumdra Manthan was done By Sura and Asura. Basuki Nag was said to be used as rope for extracting Nav ratna , Poision and Amrit from sea. However locals say hill has signs of rope/snake on it. Currently there is temple at the top of hill, mistrious kunda ( said to be meet at Ganga and sea) and a small lake called as papharini pond. There is heavy rush and fair at the time Makar sankranti each year. Other times are very few people except locals are there, There are stairs to go up. Less taken care by Govt, and not fully developed yet for tourists. Nearest rail head is maharana halt of local train ferrying from Bhagalpur and is connected by road as well. If your are alone dont keep too much valuables with you although less crime is reported but it may happen. Otherwise it is a good place to travel.
