This is one of the most gorgeous places to visit if you are an outdoors person. The trails are neverending and packed with stunning views and high-mountain refuges so you don't even have to return to camp if you decide you just like it up there. My last visit we hiked a good 45km in two days and a good 2000m in vertical, stayed in a high-mountain baita, found wild blueberries, raspberries and blackberries and would have jumped into the lakes if the water wasn't so dang cold...but melted snow is not known to be warm though it is crystal clear and gorgeous.
This land is full of terrain that is great for all levels of hikers, so whatever you are looking for you'll find. And while the alps are stunning, they are true mountains so be prepared, pack the right gear and stay very alert for vipers. Other than that, be ready to see high mountain goats and deer prancing around, marmots calling and echoing across the peaks, eagles soaring in the sky and air that is so clean you gain a new meaning on breathing.
