Nothing great, only attraction is the Turtle festival
Dec 2019
A place you should visit only during the turtle hatching season if at all. Nothing great otherwise, there are many pristine beaches further down the Kokan strip

Velas : Beautiful Beach and famous Turtle Festival
Jan 2020
Velas Beach is famous in Maharashtra for Turtle Festival. This festival is arranged by forest department, village panchayat and Kasav Mitramandal. It's an amazing effort to conserve Olive Ridley turtles and travelers get to see the first journey of tiny turtles hatching and making their way to the sea. Also, efforts has been taken for local community as there are no resorts/ hotels around, travelers has to accommodate in home stays which itself is an amazing experience and you will definitely enjoy the local food.

I visited Velas Turtle Festival twice, once in 2015 and then in 2019 with a group. You can contact them at +91 82907-22922(Pranav). It's good to travel with a group as Velas has network connectivity issue and it's difficult to coordinate for home stays. With the time, it has gained lot of popularity and the place is filled up very fast. There are around 45 home stays in Velas.

Place & beach for explorers
Dec 2019
Velas Beach is famous beach specially for turtle and turtle festival in March/ April. Velas is nice little village, with calmness and simplicity. Away from the crowd, gives you maximum relaxation. A must visit if you are a nature lover and photographer.
Actually, this beach is approx 50 km away from Diveagar. For reaching Velas Beach, from Diveagar, route is via Srivardhane, Harihareshwaran and taking Ferry from Bagmandala. to Vesvi. From bagmandla we took our Car also on the the ferry through jetty as we have to cross savitri river. From Vesvi to Velas, direct route was closed due to some repairing work, so we had to take long route via Gudeghar and Bankot. Route from Vesnvi to Velas was not very good and reaching to Velas was little tough. This area is unexplored and very few tourists reach here. Mobile signal was unavailable most of the time. From Pune distance is approx 200 km via Varand chat, Bhor. The path to reach Velas is all surrounded by see and amazing wind.
Went here in Dec last week and stayed overnight at a homestay. A good experience staying at the homestay enjoying simple home food by very hospitable hosts. Incidentally, our hosts were owner of Spice trees including Black Pepper, Cinnamon, BayLeaf, Mace, Betel Nut etc. So we visited and enjoyed all these.

Velas Beach, Turtle Festival Point
Apr 2019
Velas Beach is mainly famous for Turtle festival. Olive Ridley turtles that visit the Velas beach every year to lay eggs at Velas. Local Gram Panchayat has taken over the responsibility to conserve Olive Ridley Turtles by providing protection to their eggs. Every year, as thousands of newly hatched Olive Ridley turtles take their first steps towards the big blue sea. Good experience to small/baby turtles walked towards the sea. Usually in the month of March-April you can Visit this place. Beach is very clear. Velas is small village. Homestays are available. No hotels and restaurants available in Velas.

Not many turtles this year..
Jan 2019 • Friends
Recently visited this beach. Started on a Friday night and reached here early morning. Velas is nice little village n you will love it's calmness n simplicity..to reach the beach, u have to cross the village , park the vehicle over the bridge n walk for 10 odd mins.. mangroves all around the trail..delight for photographers..we were expecting many eggs laid being hatched but learnt that till date only 3 lots (that too a day before our visit)..so not a pretty sign..avoid going into the water...really dangerous.. plenty of space to sit near the beach..nice benches.. playing equipment being installed for the kids.. please search for Madhav Upadhye velas to Diveaagar on YouTube for the trip idea, more photos n things to do..homestay facilities available in many homes..rates around 200-300 pp..

A calm beach
Nov 2018 • Family
It is not much crowded and is very calm and serene beach. You don't get much for food except some light snacks and tea perhaps.
