My wife and I visited the Harshat Mata Temple as part of a Golden Triangle tour with the TripaDeal group in February.

Situated opposite the Step Well, this was a very interesting place to visit. Once again, shoes are not allowed when visiting the temple. We had the services of a guide who explained the story and history behind all the intricate carvings in the marble and stone around the temple.

Ring the bell hanging from the roof as you enter the temple for good luck.

Only down side was all the ruins scattered around the temple. Hopefully one day, they are able to put all the pieces of the puzzle back together again.

This temple is located bang opposite the Chandbaori in Abhaneri, Dhausa. Ruins from the temple are strewn all around the place including the corridors of the Baori. Exquisite carvings on stone speak of glorious days that this temple has seen and the destruction it had to endure.

A serene place overlooking the colorful, fertile lands with some breathtaking views. The delicate carvings and the dilapidated stone walls stand testament to how the temple of joy and happiness (dedicated to 'Harshat Mata') was reduced to the ruins it is in today.

We visited Harshat Mata with our tour guide who is an ex Indian History Teacher. The Temple is within throwing distance from the Chand Baori step well Harshat Mata Temple is also dedicated to the goddess Harshat Mata, The remains of the temple still show architectural and sculptural styles of ancient India. Much of it is in ruins now but what's left is beautiful (the stone carvings) Harshat Mata is the goddess of joy and happiness.

A 8/9th century temple beside the Chand Baori step well. Many of the amazing carved panels from this temple are on display at the step well site. See the intact and partially intact paNelson and compare them with the ones deliberately defaced and smashed by the zealots and invaders from the northwest during the period.
