It was the lord, which Sree Sankaracharya worshipped since child hood. Janmabhumi Temple and Crocodile khat are less than 50meters close to this temple

This is situated next to the Sringeri Mutt (temple of Adi Shankara & his mother Aryambal's samadhi. The place is divine with its surroundings and the Purna river. Ideal time for darshan is early morning (5-7 am) or evening (6-7 pm)
