Medak fort has about 500 steps to climb. It may be exhausting while climbing but is achievable. It was built in the 12th century during Kakatiya rule. There is a mosque on the top. Except for the mosque there is nothing much on the top. Three main gates are the primary attraction which you will come across while climbing.

I went to Medak Fort. It is a huge structure located on the top of a hill. One has to climb more than 500 steps to reach the top of the fort, which occupies 100 acres on the hilly area. Medak Fort is noted for its architectural magnificence. It is great place to go.

I had recently moved to hyderabad and was looking for places nearby to explore. My father, husband and myself set off on this trip in our car. We departed hyderabad by 1430 and it took us about three hours to get to medak (had a small tea break in between). I had booked an ac standard room in haritha resort adjacent to medak Fort. We explored the Fort in the evening after we reached. Its a good climb to the top and the view is beautiful.
The room in the resort was neat. As we were three of us, we requested for an extra mattress and they obliged. Be prepared to see a lot of lizards and small insects outside the room at night as they are attracted to the light. Thankfully we didn't have any insects inside the room. The resort offers good food. However I would highly recommend hotel Chandra bhavan (not quite sure about the name, but its next to the main entrance to medak cathedral, diagonally opposite to bawarchi). It's a veg restaurant. And the meal was just awesome, for 100 bucks (per meal). There's an amul parlour right next to it to have ice cream as well.
The next morning we headed to pocharam dam after breakfast. It was very serene with hardly any visitors. So we spent a good half hour by the water.
We Proceeded next to the deer breeding park close to the dam. We have to take our own vehicle inside accompanied by a guide. Saw a lot of spotted deer, sambhar deer and peacocks. There is a view point from where we can see the pocharam reservoir. It's very beautiful. The recommended time to visit the park according to the guides is by 1015 as they would have just fed the animals, so they will come up front.
We then went to the medak cathedral. The architecture is beautiful with glass paintings in the interior. However as the Sunday mass was in progress the church was overcrowded. So we didn't ho inside.
We had lunch in restaurant I mentioned before and then checked out of the resort. We then headed to singur dam in sangareddy. This dam is much larger than pocharam and more popular. There was quite a crowd. You can get into the water if you feel like, so carry an extra set of clothes. However we took a walk on the dam and spent some time taking photos.
We stopped in the nearby haritha resort for a cup of tea and then drove back to hyderabad.
On the whole it was a trip to remember! 😊

We started from Hyderabad around 7am and had our breakfast on the way. It is suggested to start early as it becomes difficult to walk and capture those scenes once temperature turns hot. We were in fort till 11am and started to Medak Church which is located in the middle of the town. There are plenty of restaurants available around Church. Had our lunch and started back to Hyderabad. TS Tourism (Haritha) resorts are available for night stays in fort and various North Indian dishes are available for lunch after 1pm.

I’m a fort mania, and this is my 110th visit to a fort in India.
I like this place.
Small efforts of stepping up the hill are required.
At the top, enjoyed nice views of the area with a town and greenery.
Probably not for everyone if you expect a lot from here.
If you can enjoy nice views and breeze, this can be yours.

Medak fort is a 12th Century fort built during the dynasty of Kakatiya. The size of the fort is small compared to Golconda fort in Hyderabad, but height wise it is at higher altitude. One has to climb up several stairs to reach the top. The view from the top is fascinating as it gives you 360 degree view of the town Medak and surroundings. The fort has three major rock craved gates. You can consider it as a must visit place at Medak.

A fort located or the ruins of the fort located on the hillock in the medak district is known as medak fort.
It gives a breathtaking view of the skyline of the medak district. It was built by kakatiya rulers.
