- Trip097354237582 contributionsPalani visit.had a good darshan. Since there was lot of rush for the Winch/rope car, we decided to climb the mountain. Though very hard in summer, by gods grace we managed to climb fully. THat gave us a confidence that both our hearts are in good condition. Thank god.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 1, 2024
- Dreamer246207436261 contributionInterruptions on DarshanamThe place and view is so well good! The only and main disappointment is when on visiting the main god Lord Muruga as there is little time to Darshan lord Muruga after a long wait, priests get cover the deity by walking infront inside out. It makes devotees disappoint as came so long and waited for hours to get darshanam of the priest who is standing in front of lord Muruga walking here and there. Requesting all the priests who work there please let devotees see Lord Muruga clearly in that short time (around 5-20 seconds). Requesting all the priests to stay at side as the devotees can see Lord clearly.Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 30, 2024
- vishy2014julyOoty (Udhagamandalam), India50 contributionsShort Religious Solo Tour of TamilnaduThe visit to Palani Murugan temple was fourth in my itenary, after 1)Rameshwaram Shivlings worshipped by Rama) 2)Madurai Meenakshi Ammal (Maa Parvathi's avtar) and Sundareshwar (Shiv avtar) 3) Pillayarpatti Karpaga Vinayagar (Ganesha). I reached Palani late in the night. But the excitement to complete my visit to Srirangam (fifth leg) on same day, made me wake up early in the next morning. I completed my "mundan" took a good bath and started the climb up the steps by 7 am. I was lucky to get a very nice darshan. It was an immersive experience. I was back in the hotel before 9 am. By 11 am I was on my way to Tiruchirappalli/Srirangam to meet Perumal (Vishnu)Visited November 2024Traveled soloWritten November 28, 2024

Visited the temple with my spouse and mother. Total time from vehicle to Darshan and back to vehicle was 30 minutes due to my mother’s special requirements (details below).
Firstly, the drive itself from Kodai to palani is picturesque. We had a lovely time appreciating nature’s beauty throughout the way. Many reviews state that the road is narrow but we felt it’s nothing different from any other hillstation in India. Of course it won’t be a four way highway, just smooth winding roads that come down the hill. Just lovely!
Coming to the temple, we reached at 11 am. We had to pay 50 bucks for vehicle. After that, we took a right to the ropeway station. Since my mother is elderly, we got very nervous at seeing the long queue. However, temple staff was there with wheelchairs and we got priority entrance. We had to pay 50 bucks per head to board the ropeway car which we did within 5 minutes - no waiting! We tipped the wheelchair attendant 50 bucks as he had saved us a lot of time.
Once we reached the top, we again asked for the wheelchair and another two attendants came. They put my mom in the wheelchair but on seeing that there were around 10 steps my mother said she would climb as it would be very heavy for the attendants. After climbing 10 steps we reached the temple entrance. Here the attendants took us through the exit and in 2 minutes flat we were in front of Lord Murugan seeking his blessings. The temple pandits were adequately happy with our dakshina of 100 bucks and allowed us to gaze upon the god for 2-3 minutes. We again came out from the exit gate but stopped to buy prasadam (Rs 15) and panchamrit (Rs 35).
We had to pay special darshan fees of Rs 100 each to the attendant and another Rs 100 for wheelchair although I have doubts that wheelchair were paid service (and we never got the tickets as the attendant said he would buy it for us) but all the prices were written in Tamil so no point arguing. Further, we had already decided to tip the attendants graciously so we didn’t mind.
Once again my mom climbed down the 10 steps to reach the cable car station. We tipped the attendants Rs 100 each and the gate guard also asked for some for allowing us through exit gate so we tipped him 50 too.
We paid 50 bucks per head once more for the ropeway car and reached the bottom and were out of temple. Total time 30 minutes.

Palani Arulmigu Dhandayuthapaniswamy Temple is one of the Six Hill Abodes of Lord Murugan! Throughout the year devotees from Kerala, Tamil Nadu & from All over India throng this Hill Temple. Temple has very powerful vibration!
Palani Hill temple can be reached through – One way is Elephant Path & the other one is Steps. Elephant path is contracted for elephants to climb the hill temple on festival days! You also have Rope Car & Winch services to reach the hill top.

I I have gone directly to Devasom lodge.
I took a room there Both Ac and non Ac avilable.
Hair removal is avilable inside the Devosam. Lodge.
After that took bath and took a auto to rope/ winch station to go up. Those who wish to walk can take that option too.
Need 50rs tic for winch one way.
After darshan same way back to devosam lodge.
By gods grace all went good

I got tingling at the Siddhar’s jiva samadhi… the evening alankar time was terribly crowded even with 100 rupee ticket. The priest there in the evening was shouting for Archana and kanikkai. Didn’t like it. We felt we had to give him100 bucks or he would be angry at us. Felt bad after. The morning Pooja was good. The only honest and kind person around was the one at the information centre at the foothill, Mr. Marugeeswsrar. Contact him at 9003736108, he will guide you about morning and afternoon Abhishek and Prasad.
There are touts about and beggars and greedy ppl everywhere who want tips or money. The ambience around isn’t good at all.

0we visited Palani temple 9th Aug this month. The most popular Murugan temple, I would say is not organized to handle the good number of devotees visiting the place.
The Winch train that take devotees to the top of the mountain to temple is a boon. But sadly the management is poor. The allowed capacity is 36 people, but they stuff 5 people in each row, which h is hardly 4 feet and putting people's life st risk. I wish the concerned authorities will look into this.
Secondly the Abhishek panchamutam while available in the temple T the top, the tauts mislead and direct to shore in down hill at cost which is 5-6 fold high. Another racket here.

I recommend don't visit the temple at all.here all things are marketing and cheating people..from the parking section to the sreekovil.every one will try to cheat the people. Each and every one will cheat by giving cheap things and ask more money.
Those steps are slippery and be carefull will getting and comming back.
For stay pls enquire before starting ur journey.online booking is good for all.othere wise you will be cheated at any cost.

The norm in all indian temples are very crowded and everything is commercialized to make money. Even standing in a queue for Darshan. When u finally get in you will be lucky to view the main murthi. The temple architecture is amazing and views were breathtaking. That was the highlight of the long tiring walk up 701 steps.

I walked 100 miles in 4 1/2 days in Thai Poosam time in 2020 January before all this Covid started. One of the wonderful experiences. And our parents and friends wear bring food for us every 5 days. All we had to do was walk and enjoy a new experience. Thanks to Lord Muruga.

Overcrowded dirty place not managed well. Waiting time for winch climbing the hill is almost two hours then darshan queue. Most administration staff speaks only Tamil and stay away from our national language Hindi which is a big shame being part of Bharat and not knowing Hindi. Temple signs are mostly in Tamil so difficult for North Indians to understand

Can we take special darshan ticket in temple?or is it only available through online?
Written July 26, 2023
Yes. It's better to have online darshan tickets booked through TNHRCE.gov.in for your tickets and could avoid standing in queue for booking tickets in the temple..
Written July 14, 2024
How much time will take for palani dharshan by special ticket
Written March 13, 2023
If you are taking a 100 rupees special darshan ticket, then it may take around an hour to have your darshan.
This time may vary if -
01. It's a shasti day or kiruthika star day
02. If it is abhishekam time or neivedhya time
