We drove from Bangkok at 6:30 am to the Bali Hai Pier at 8:30 am. We paid 30 Baht for the ferry from the Pier to Tawaen Beach Pier. The Tawaen beach is nice and clean. There is a 7-11 Store near the pier. We paid 10 Baht to use the restrooms and changed the clothes. We paid 40 Baht for a shared taxi truck to Samae Beach. Samae Beach has white sand and clear water. We paid 100 Baht for a beach chair per day at Samae Beach. The Papaya salad cost 100 Baht. I hiked to the hill view point in 10 minutes. The views were beautiful. The weather were nice. We were at Samae Beach from 10 am to 3 pm. We liked the beach.

The ferry took about 40 minutes to the little island near Pattaya. Then once there the water was blue and crystal clear already. Then a tuk tuk ride to the beach for another 15 minutes, I just followed all the people to the tuk tuks. Thre Samae beach was perfect, white sand and turqoise water crystal clear so nice swimming in there. There were restaurants and bars and shaded seating for hire. Such a great day trip. I will definitely return.

One hotel that is very nice. A medium walking beach. With a Stingray shaped building one end. Many options to rent chairs that offer food and drinks. only 10 minutes from the pier, rent a scooter for 300B to get around.

If you are a beach buddy and visiting Pattaya, then you must visit Samae beach. Samae beach is one of the most gorgeous and happening beaches of Pattaya. It's situated in Koh Larn island 30min away from Pattaya by ferry.
From the Pattaya Bali Hai Ferry terminal (which is just at the corner of the famous Walking Street and Pattaya Hill with the famous Pattaya Sign), you can take a direct ferry to Samae beach (150THB return trip), or go to Koh Larn island's Tawaen Ferry terminal first by ferry (30 THB one way) and then take a Baht bus to samae beach (20THB one way). Even though the second option uses an old ferry and no free water bottle like the first option, I prefer the second option as there is no convenient ferry terminal in Samae beach; therefore, passengers are shifted to a small boat in the middle of the sea, and the small boat then drops the passengers in the floating pier of Samae beach. Transferring from Ferry to small boat is very scary and risky (well so far no accident is reported). Moreover, sometimes the direct return ferry from the Samae beach is late. Direct ferries from Pattaya to Samae beach run from 9AM to 1PM , and return ferries run till 6PM.
Once you reach the beach, you can hire a beach chair and umbrella for the whole day (30 to 50THB). Beach chair managers help to take food/drinks order and deliver food/drinks to your beach chair free of charge. Food quality is very good and price is reasonable. Before going to swim, you can lock your valuables in one of the lockers (100THB for one day) which are conveniently located with the beach. If you forgot sun screen, towel, bikini, or goggles, nothing to worry; cause all these are sold on the beach. After swimming, you can take shower in a nice clean shower room. Shower rooms and toilets are also conveniently located on the beach (But you need to pay 10THB per use).
Besides swimming, many other activities you can take part in, such as Banana boat, paragliding, Pistol shooting, snorkeling, etc.
If you want to stay in Koh Larn overnight, these days good hotels like Xanadu are available.
All in all, Samae is a great beach and I will go there again for sure.

It is our favourite beach in Koh Larn Island.
Koh Larn Island has a number of beaches. We like this one because -
1. Like most beaches in Koh Larn the water is clear here. It's perfect for a swim. The temperature of water is also very tempting.
2. This beach is quite scenic. So if you are not swimming, you can just chill in a Beach Chair and enjoy the view.
3. It is somewhat touristy, but not disturbingly so. There are many tourists, but you can have your space to relax and enjoy. It is neither the most crowded nor the least crowded. It is somewhere in the middle. But if you are looking for a secluded beach, this is not the one for you.
4. Plenty of Food and Beverage Shacks. The sea food and the local dishes are fresh and good. Beverages are affordable.
5. You see people of all shapes, sizes, colours, nationalities, cultures. Thats a big plus for any beach.
When we go to Pattaya, we take a Ferry to Koh Larn Island in the morning (30B per person). After reaching the island, we take a Songthaew to Samae Beach (20B per person). Book a Beach Chair (50B per chair), and spend the day chilling. We swim, read, nap, eat, drink, watch people ... then start back in the afternoon for Pattaya. It is relaxing and fun. We find Samae Beach perfect for our purpose.

Wow !!!!!!!! Samae Beach, Koh Lan is undoubtedly the best beach ever in Pattaya. Beautiful blue clean water is best for swimming, snorkelling and many more water activities like parasailing, banana boat, water bike etc. This is a must place to visit in Pattaya. Well, how to go there from Pattaya? Going there is very convenient. There're two types of transportation available from Bali Hai Pier [end of famous Walking Street] from morning to late afternoon apart from rented speedboat [private]. One can go by Ferry @40 Baht/ person or @300 Baht/ person by speed boat [shared basis]. Nevertheless, if you're a group of more than 5 then it'd better to charter a speedboat @1,500 Baht [to go and back] and enjoy the journey/ trip more amongst the group members. Panoramic view of Samae beach is magnificent and really a worthy visit for everybody. Sun bed, food, drinks, lunch, toilet, massage everything one can get easily but price is little bit higher which is very common in all tourist area. Thus, better to full your stock from convenient store 7/11 after down @ pier in Koh Lan. It's simply a cool beach with visitors round the year but not too much crowdy. Accommodation facilities also available now a day. I've checked with local and tariff is like 500 ~ 700 Baht/ night [AC room with hot/ cold shower, balcony, double bed etc] If one'd like to explore the island then my suggestion is to do that please. We took Songtaew i.e. Baht Bus @800/= to explore the island. Coral Island or Koh Lan consists of 04 beaches i.e. Koh lan, Samae, Tawan and Nual Beach. We went all the beaches, took pictures, met with numerous tourists around the globe. Well, for the partygoers/ bachelors this beach is not a bad one to meet with freelancers. Trust, I went 07 times so far and would like to go again and again :-)

Here is what happened when my wife and I decided to have lunch at this terrible beach..we made such a big order for only two people between ordering almost 3lbs of crab a 1 1/2 lbs of lobsters plus a few other sides fried rice salad ..which was just about right for two until this guy my sever had literally pushed this fish up our throats kept it n saying this fresh its good if you bbq I promise you won't regret it ..not far too long until he brought over to our table but completely messed up here is what we said we would only like peppers onions and tomatoes on our fish after he had mentioned that it comes with cabbage and carrots as well but we declined both next thing we opened the fish and there is eggs on our fish which we are allergied to so i tried to explain we didn't order it that way we only asked for certain vegetables also told my server that he never mentioned any thing about eggs ..soon enough he comes over and starts saying well if you don't eat eggs you should have said something..i was shocked by his response soon enough i knew where this was going ..he's was trying to hide the fact he messed up and just trying to say it our fault so i asked for the bill ..guess what i was charged for it when i never even touched it then my sever starts calling me names saying he never seen a tourist like me then brings this lady over talking to her in thai language which I didn't even understand so i ended up paying for my whole order accept the fish because that was messed up all the sudden i hear the lady throwing my tips in my face literally pushed me as i was walking calling me names dropping the f word so i started saying not to touch me instead she went called a the scooter taxi drivers to stand up for her I realized there are no cops near by so all they had to do is attack me and wife while we stand alone so luckily i had rented a scooter to be able to take off as soon as possible ...i promise this beach isn't safe beach to stay at because if you don't give up all the money you have ..you will be jumped ..its bad out there!!

Starting Bangkok.... you have to get to Pattaya, and starting from there, 30 minutes on water would be sufficient to get to this beautiful natural paradise. The water is amazing, the sand is white and there's a multitude of activities you can benefit of.
It's a one day trip from Pattaya and back, if you really wanna see the best of it.
You can get there by speed boat, which is affordable for 4-6 persons, you can negociate a good price of 1500 - 2000 Baht/35-50 euros, the round trip. Any additional services, as lunch on board and sailing along the natural places can be negociated. But just do this when you actually rent the boat, in the harbour.
Another option is the usual big vessel, the so called 'normal trip route', about 35 Baht/person - 7-8 euros/one way. Be careful choose one which is not overcrowded.
Once you got there, there are 3 options : either you walk around the island and choose a beach to enjoy, or you rent a scooter and explore on your own for a day, either you rent a boat to get to the less crowded , not accesible(therefore more beautiful beaches).
We've chosen a mix of the 3 options, and visited as much as possible.
Be careful when you negotiate your prices and make sure you make clear what you want to get for what you pay. We paid for snorkelling and navigating around the island, and we got half of hour along a 100 meters beach :))). 1500 Baht though, but not well spent.
All the same, the island is beautiful. Samae beach is amazingly beautiful, although crowded and noisy. All over the place is full of tourists and ambulant vendors.
The prices are high , comparing to everything I;ve visited all over the coast. But you can have a fresh lunch, with sea food and local cuisine, within the range of 200 - 400 Baht/ 5-10 euro/person. You get to pick your own sea food, while it's still alive ;), shrimps, squids, crabs and clamps, etc. You should definitely try this. Everything is fresh and cooked properly, in thai style.
The beach chairs are available and they cost 50 Baht/1-2 euros, the beverages are cheap. You can also rent water jet skis at a reasonable price. Keep in mind that the place , even on water is overcrowded.
Overall, I loved the island, but I would have loved to have more space and the opportunity to explore some more savage nature. It's way too crowded, but definitely a gorgeous spot to remember.
Make sure you don't miss your ride back, during all seasons the island has almost no vacancy on it's hotels. As I mentioned, it's really great for a one day trip
If you havemore time for this area, rent a boat for a few days and have a complete tour. You won't regret it. Enjoy !

This is a very nice beach, we took the bikes from the point of entry in Coral Islands and reached here. We relaxed at the shank with some drinks. The beach is clean and the prices were reasonable. There are chairs if you want to hire them.
